he's Italian, used to own an Italian restaurant, and they host a LOT of family out at their cottage all summer long. his wife did it all from scratch too.

there was one pizza with beets on it. I was drunk enough to try it, but sober enough to know it was disgusting.

Tomato pie, Trenton style, NJ tomato....called many things
Upside Down is another common term.

    Delicious

( edit - I think Detroit style also has scoops of sauce on top.  Also delicious)

Upside down pies have become more popular over the past few years.  Margaritas too.

The three I ordered were an upside (sauce on top), grandma square (thin) and regular with sesame seeds.

Your G'ma pies have wayyyyy more sauce than ours do.  There's only a splash on them here.

Typical of what one looks like in Nassau County. Some have basil on top too.

Upside down I know have been around for a bit but have become more popular in the last 30 years or so?  Same w the Grandma.  As a kid that didn't exist.  Mid 90's someone in Long Island started making it and it became huge.
