If you’re referring to the one I posted then yes, sorta.  It’s a Columbia black-tailed deer which is a subspecies of mule deer.  This one is a good size, but in general, the deer on the Island tend to be smaller than their mainland counterparts.

We call them cougars here. I haven’t encountered any personally, but they are around.  At minimum, there are usually at least one or two sightings a year in my community which is in an urban centre. We have a lot of deer in the city so there is good eating.  Lots of sightings up Island though. They usually avoid people unless they are sick or starving.

The return of wild turkeys to our neighborhood. Happy to see them back. We saw another family much larger but I was driving so no photo.

They remind me of dinosaurs. Nice picture. Looks like they are going for a stroll chatting it up.

LOL, I thought the same thing.  I wonder what they were talking about?

Even better today- and I wish I'd had grabbed my phone to take a photo- we had a large flock of Sandhill cranes fly and circle briefly relatively low over our house a couple of hours ago.  These are gorgeous birds (example below) and make a really cool sound when flying above.  What a treat that was.  And to think that by 1900, they were very nearly hunted to extinction.  Today, they are the most numerous crane species in the world and can live up to 25 years in the wild!

Yes! I had then fly over my house when I lived in CO. Heard them before I saw. They were way up high, but they make this distinctive chatter. Can't remember what it sounds like now. Very cool . I love nature.

    Nature, yes!
Yeah, that make kind of a clucking muted castanet sort of sound.  Would make a nice addition to percussion if there were a way to reproduce it, lol!

One of those showy males made a move on one of the females and she wanted nothing of it.  We just cracked up!

One time driving US 30 WB from the NJ border into Pennsylvania, a flock of 10 or so flew across the road in front of the truck.......

Wasn't a turkey but i had a canadian goose fly into the side of my car once. Luckily i saw him fly towards me and I slowed down a little bit. Also lucky that he hit the side of my car door and not the windshield or anything. Just left some goose crap and stuff on the car. Not sure if it survived or not.

Went out to hang with the spring peepers last night. went to a small pond with a red/ green light. They are so loud and amazing to watch. I never take amphibians for granted.

    Love you all
