Thanks for sharing this, I did ask for other sources in my original comment. But this data is flawed in the same way. All of the sources I looked at (and I shared from from politico) only include a small fraction of mass shootings. I think this one counted 140 over a span of 40 years. Its not any more valid than the one I shared. And in the 80s the white population was closer to 80%, so averaging the population over the time this data was taken, it is still about equal.The Juggler said:

Luckily for me, I understand math. I know if 70% of shooters are white, and 70% of the population is white, I can rationalize it isnt a problem associated primarily with whites. You can't just put them both together and say therefore white males are at a higher rate, because that would apply to every male ethnic group as well. You shouldn’t need to read an article or do “research.” Just pay attention over time and know a little bit about current demographics and the differences between a planned, mass shooting and a random outburst of gun violence that gets classified as a mass shooting because of multiple victims (I go by the definition of four or more victims, not including the shooter).

I did read it. Whites make up more mass shootings because they make up more of the population. But the rate is roughly equal to the population. That was the point.
