Just wondering...the three I found where removed. I know, the band has the right to have nothing being recorded or shown on the web, but still...why so tight on this issue?

    a lot of times its not the band, its the venue.
    {if (work != 0) {
    work = work + 1;
    sleep = sleep - work * 10;}
    else if (work >= 0) {
    reality.equals(false);
    work = work +1;
    }system("pause");
    return 0;}

    lol the removal of videos isn't being done by the venues, it's being done by the 10C as per the following:

    "No cameras of any kind, recording or recording devices at all (not even camera phones). If caught, your film, tapes, discs, smart cards, drives, any type of recording will be confiscated and you'll be escorted out.

    We thank you for your cooperation."
    To quote the 10C from Newsletter #8: "Please understand we have a lot of members and it is very hard to please everybody. If you are one of those unhappy people...please call 1-900-IDN-TCAR."

    Wow, didn´t know they were that rigid with the cameras on this tour. Sure, I understand how flashes can be REALLY annoying and how for this special tour, can really ruin the mood of the shows...but filming it...I don´t see how it can be a problem....well....I guess we won´t see any videos from Eddie.. :(

    nowhere did i say the venue was removing the videos....

    i simply stated a lot of times the venue will push the fan club/promoter etc into removing you tube videos because they reserve the copyright laws... thanks for coming out though.

    out of curiosity, are you familiar with copyright laws? i ask because i assure you NO band/performer/artist, when signing on to play a concert with a promoter, will ever relinquish trademark of its' name/image/copyright. that being the case, NO venue could ever own said trademarks/copyrights, and as such have NO case for arguing breach of trademark/copyright when an image/video/audio of a band playing at its' venue is posted on a forum such as YouTube.

    10C, being an entity of Pearl Jam LLC, is entitled to pursue and protect said trademarks/copyrights and has done just that by petitioning YouTube to remove the EV videos, as per Ed's instructions.

    the venue owns just as much of the copyright, if you come to my house and take pictures of someone other than me for publicity or whatever, for the sake of discussion, who would sign the release ??? the person that youre taking pictures of AND the owner of the house.

    The band needs the release from the venue for anything to be out videos/pictures there, a ot of times bands dont have it
    Im not arguing the fact that 10c req the videos being taken down, I'm juts saying the copyright is 50/50 in most cases. Im quite familiar with copyright laws.

    LOL you're alright :)

    i'm not questioning your viewpoint, with regards to the "taking pictures in your house" scenario (really don't know where to start with it, since i could be misinterpreting what you're trying to say), but i will say in NO way does it apply to the EV scenario of banning videos recorded at his shows, because the EV shows are not taking place at a private domicile, they're taking place at a venue rented out to host a concert. the contract signed by the band with the promoter and venue guarantees the performance under terms ageed to by all parties involved. the crucial point to remember is that under NO circumstances has Ed (in the case of his concerts) agreed to his trademark/copyright being waved, and under NO circumstances does he share 50/50 ownership of his trademark/copyright with the venue. that scenario simply does NOT happen.

    case in point, consider the following: why, when an artist plays at a venue, do concertgoers HAVE to buy the artist's merchandise directly from the artist? why does the venue not go out and produce its' own version of tee shirts, posters, etc. to sell the very same night (that would be the case under your 50/50 copyright scenario)? after all, shouldn't the trademark/copyright owner be allowed to profit from their ownership? simple,...trademark infringement. the artist doesn't relinquish it, not for merchandise, and not for video/audio. the artist owns and controls any and all use of his/her name/image/property.

    Santos will likely never reply in this thread, but if he were to he would tell you (since you're not going to accept me telling you) that, once again, NO venue owns what you call a "copyright" of an artist's image playing at said venue, and there is also no 50/50 ownership, that simply doesn't exist.

    I think the reason that the 10c is not allowing videos/pictures/whatever is because they don't have to. I think they want to be in control of how this material gets out. If there's to be a dvd/cd/whatever of these shows, they want to make sure that when you see the dvd, it's what they want you to see. I'm sure they don't want it to be ruined by some crappy cell phone vid that was distributed before the dvd is even released. So just respect their wishes, gosh!

    you might be absolutely right and this is an acceptable reason for me.
    (However majority of EV fans -incl. me - don't have the chance to see him perform at these venues...and we're TERRIBLY curious :rolleyes: :))
