I never played the game. Whats the connection with PJ and the game? I've been hearing people talk about it on here and have no idea why.
I googled "Pearl Jam Last of Us game" and saw Joel plays future days. Pretty easy to just pick any other song ever made before 2003 if thats the only connection.

In the 2nd game, Future Days is actively used and played by the protagonists.   There's also a lightning bolt poster or two seen in the game.   The challenge being with the TV show, is that the apocalypse happened in 2003 instead of 2013, so I'm not sure that'll be present in the second season (as PJ wouldn't of had a chance to make lightning bolt in the TV universe).
I am soaking fused right now with this “game” thing

Last of Us was originally a video game on PlayStation. The series follows it closely.

I'm an Xbox guy so I had no idea either.

The TV show is based on a playstation game.  The game already has a sequel.  The internet is going to be collectively unhappy when season 2 airs :)

All or None was played at the beginning during her flashback.  Not at the end or over the credits.

I wonder if he was sent a different copy. Unless he saw it on hbo. It would have been a good closer

Yeah… maybe he got an advanced screener.  The scene with the Walkman was cool
but if I had to pick between the two… I’d rather we got the version he described in the review.   As someone else mentioned… that solo is killer.

A song from Riot Act.  I guess that answers that.  Time period is correct.

If I understand the chronology of the show correctly (as opposed to the video game), the cordyceps outbreak occured in September 2003. The scenes with Ellie and Joel are taking place in the present day of 2023. The flashback scene with Ellie in the FEDRA school and shopping mall would have taken place at some point in the past year or so, likely in 2022. So although Riot Act would have been relatively new at the time of the outbreak, it was 20 years old by the time she was listening to it in the scene. (Admittedly, there likely would not have been any new music released since September 2003, so it would have been "new" music in that context.) Anyway, it would be interesting to know who turned Ellie on to that album and/or band since she would not have been born yet when it came out.

EDIT: It occurs to me that it's entirely possible in the universe of the show that the members of Pearl Jam are all fungus monsters in 2023.

Maybe they all lived and made more albums, but couldn't release them to do infrastructure problems :)

I wonder what the increase percentage was? I don't think it will be as high as Linda Ronstadt because that was more heavily used in the episode it was on. And judging by the uploaded YouTube video. It's only up 25k as of the time of this post from the moment it appeared on the show.
