Next Vault: Summerfest '95 Night 2

A lot of attention has been given to Chicago '95 at Soldier Field but I could never say enough good about the 2nd night at Summer Fest just 2 days earlier. I feel it is the superior of the 2 shows but who am I? Just look at the Five Horizons entry. And look at that setlist! Act Of Love opener!!, New Jeremy, Star Boy, and their definitive cover of LIttle Wing/Maggot Brain? They should release this with an accompanying 7" single that includes I Only Play for Money on Side A and Forever In Blue Jeans from the night before on Side B. A boy can dream.

notes: If a show could have been any different (and better!) than the previous night, this was it. Ed surprises the audience by joining the Frogs' set for 'I Only Play for Money.' Dressed in a Beatles-type wig, sunglasses and shiny silver jacket, he is not recognizable until he begins to sing. In return, Jimmy of the Frogs accompanies Ed in the acoustic encore 'Star Boy.' A surprising opening song, 'Act of Love,' is extremely hard and driven. Lots of long jams that really show off Mike's ability. For the encore, Chad Smith (RHCP's drummer) joins PJ and a fascinating version of the Hendrix classic, 'Little Wing.' They jam for about eight minutes, mutating into 'Maggot Brain,' a funkadelic song from the 70s penned by Eddie Hazel. Mike's guitarwork leaves the crowd (and the rest of the band apparently) awestruck. It was later reported that Mike was hospitalized after the two Milwaukee shows due to dehydration and exhaustion.

My first show and I think it was for quite a few here. This was the show that started the journey for me. The band got their claws in me and never let go. If I ever could request a song from the band it would be 'Act of Love'. That song was the perfect way to start this amazing ride!

This footage is incredible! Thanks!! And I think this is one of the best things Mike has done in their career. I thought they did Maggot Brain one other time but I guess not. It would be so great to have the soundboard version.

Little wing maggot brain is amazing....and Ibpicked night one becuase I thought it would be better....doh doh doh. Though night one was pretty awesome.

This would be an amazing double vault bootleg .these middle and latest 90s shows with Irions and Cameron are some of my favorites
