When the ABA merged with the NBA, the Nets had to pay the Knicks $5 million because they were playing in the Knicks “territory”. The Nets offered Dr. J to the Knicks in exchange for forgiving a portion of that fee but the Knicks declined. So the Nets sold him to the Sixers instead to pay off their debts. 😭
Wow, I forgot about this, thanks!0 -

The venue security guard told me and again these are his words, that the band wanted to go on around 8:45 but there was some wiring/electrical problem on Mike's side of the stage and that is what caused the delayYeah, agree on the sound quality. I was on the lawn and something was off. For the first 1/3 of the set, Stone's guitar was really low in the mix. And something was off with the tone of his and Mike's guitar--kinda muddy like you mentioned. Flip side is Jeff and Ed's instruments both sounded great...or maybe they should just stood out more with the issues I was hearing with the other guys.0

Amazing set - for show #17, it was so awesome that I got to see songs I still hadn't heard live, esp Wash and Oceans (I should win a prize for predicting Wash as the opener!). Surprisingly not heavy on Gigaton (would have liked to see DoC again, but did at Sea.Hear last yr anyways).
Crowd felt subdued on the lawn, but it was a beautiful night, beautiful set, and Ed's spirits were so high.
It was beautiful until my phone UI crapped out and couldn't even reset it - then had to meander around to find my car after the show and drive back from Camden to Worcester, MA with no directions haha. Crummy adventure there, but so glad I got into the venue *before* that happened - i would have been SOL.Post edited by 1STmammal2wearPants on2003 Mansfield III

Double Nickels.
Thats what my friend said when I told him this was my 55th show. Never seen the E-Center ( or whatever it's called these days ) that packed. Crowd was absolutely amazing, par for the course for any Philly show and the band definitely feeds of that energy. Been to every Philly/Camden show since '92. Never once missed the opening song and that record was in serious jeopardy Wednesday night. So I for one was happy that band was a little late taking the stage. Made it to our seats just as the lights where going down and the walk in music began.
Phew.
Went to the show with my 27 year old daughter, her first, and after all the years of my telling her about how great this band is live and why I go to so many shows, she was able to see why for herself.
The setlist was fucking epic. Easily makes my top 10 personal list of shows I've attended, maybe even top 5, and I've seen some legendary ones. I feel so fortunate ( and spoiled lol ) to still be able to see my favorite band still making music and playing live shows for over 30 years now, and for whatever reason, seems to have an ongoing 30 plus year love affair with my city.

Incredible show! I enjoyed it even more than MSG (which was phenomenal). Being in GA certainly helped. State Of Love and Trust was what I was hoping to hear and they played it! Eddie even waved to my son a few times. An amazing night. The only "negative" was that Mike threw picks everywhere I wasn't. If anyone has an extra McCready pick from that night, I'll gladly buy it off you. I'm still on a high from the show. Pearl Jam NEVER disappoint!0

Hi @kosteva2, @Hoagie Breath & @mcgruff10, question for all of you: Since you've all hit all the Philly/Camden shows, how would you each rank them? I have not hit them all, but one of them is my personal favorite PJ show out of my almost 60, so I'm curious where it lines up with you OG Philly/Camden folks
How do you rank them?0 -
Thanks @mcgruff10!0

How do you rank them?
1. Philly ‘16 2. Ten show. Played the album that turned me onto the band ~24 years earlier. When they got to Alive and confirmed that it was on and they were playing Ten grown men were crying. Rest of the show had plenty of gems: Bee Girl, Sonic Reducer, All or None, Throw Your Hatred Down, RVM, Comfortably Numb. My go to bootleg listen now.
2. Philly ‘05. No album to promote so could play whatever. A great “rarity” set. Wash, Sad, Alone, Bleed for Me, Sonic Reducer., Little Sister. One of my favorite Encore 1s: stretch of Harvest Moon-HTI-Crown-Crazy Mary. Used to be my go to bootleg listen.3. Spectrum ‘09 3. Sometimes I’ll flip this with #2. One of most complete shows I’ve been to with great variety, great energy. Tremendous 1st set run: Tremor Christ-Untitled-MFC-Hold On (debut!)-Unthought Known-In Hiding (best version I’ve heard, there’s a moment when crowd singing and Ed taken a back). Breath, MamaSon Trilogy, Sonic Reducer (weird trend this keeps ending up as a throw in for a lot of my favorite shows) in encores.
4. Spectrum ‘09 4. Longest show ever at the time (still?). Plenty of bust outs: Pilate, Bugs, Out of My Mind, Sweet Lew, Satans Bed, Whip It. Show seemed to have a few more ups and downs than Spectrum 3. Expectations were crazy high with everyone expecting Springsteen or others to show up, so in real time there wasn’t the full level of satisfaction that had listening too it now. Also real time experience dragged down a little by Phillies blowing lead in game 3 of World Series happening across the street at Citizens Bank Park. Ton of Phillies fans there and could feel a little bit of crowd energy drain during latter part of show.
5. Philly ‘03. Bigger drop off from the 4 above for me; almost like different tier. First time they played the Spectrum and they understood the significance of the building. Sitting all the way near top of 3rd level. Good start to finish show. April-July ‘03 IMO best run ever for their live shows (Ie State College, Buffalo, MSG, Mansfield, Holmdel). Pretty standard set for the tour but great energy and great versions. Not as good as the other shows mentioned in ‘03 run but still a standout show of a really damn good run. Better Man with extended Save it for Later tag best version of the song I’ve heard.
6. Camden ‘98 1. Can maybe flip #6 with #7 on list but need to re listen to #7. One of my earliest full shows. A Ten-fest. Great crowd, first time for the band back in Philly area in a while. Hard to Imagine. Little Philadelphia Freedom tags. I remember doing a blank and postage trade for the bootleg cassette of this show back in the day. As above I’m biased toward arena shows so my first outdoor run on list.
7. Camden ‘22. Has potential to flip to #6 with re-listen. For bootleg replayability this has good chance of moving up to #6 (in part since if I want to listen to live Ten songs I’m picking ‘16 show over ‘98). Cool set that went light on the usual crowd sing a long songs and heavy on the rarity songs I used to chase over the prior 20+ years: Wash, HTI, Breath, Leash, Oceans. Eruption, SOLAT, Crazy Mary nice treats too.
8-21. Tough to sort out. A lot of these all seem to blend together. Bunch of little moments I remember like Camden ‘00 2 Of the Girl, Jay Z 99 Problems at MIA, some cool up close/pit experiences at a few shows, a song I hadn’t heard in a while or first time hearing a new cover played that tour. But, no real complete shows or even favorite encores jumping out. Nothing that really inspires me to go back and listen to whole-show bootlegs like the shows abovePost edited by kosteva2 onTFC '97, TFC '98, Pittsburgh '98, Camden I,II '98, Camden I,II '00, Pittsburgh '00, Philly '03, Camden I,II '03, MSG I,II '03, Hershey '03, Reading '04, Philly '05, Camden I,II '06, Meadowlands I '06, Camden I,II '08, DC '08, Spectrum I,II,III,IV '09, Made in America '12, Philly I,II '13, GCF '15, Philly I,II '16, MSG I '16, Apollo ‘22, MSG ‘22, Camden ‘22, MSG I,II '24, Philly I,II '240 -

How do you rank them?I have attended all Camden shows since 2000.
Camden only, and simply night one vs. night two for each year and I basically listed them in chronological order. 2008 night one stands out for me because I love in hiding, U, grievance, and rats. But also I loved RITFW mid set in 2003 to the fireworks (damn almost 20 years ago). Do I need to make a choice? No thanks! This year was great and exceeded all expectations, but they were all really good shows. I could never rank them. It is simple, PJ brings it to Camden, each and every time. When I saw Camden on the list of shows, that was my first choice, without a second thought about MSG.
Night 1 2000
Night 1 2003
Night 2 2006
Night 1 2008 one of my favorites

Your opinion counts! The tours of 1998-2006 have left indelible marks on me for live music. Personally the album shows have never moved the needle for me. I much prefer a set with a good flow and mix. The Camden show had it!0 -
