Concealed carry isn't so bad. The people whom do have it had to do a whole lot to get that permit.
The paranoid, hot head who bought a gun legally 10 years ago for home protection and was previously law abiding prior to the original gun purchase, is now carrying out in public. I pitty the barista who gets his or her order wrong or the person sitting across from one of these new concealed carriers who has their firearm fall out their pants waist and discharge.Yea, I can totally see how “concealed carry isn’t so bad.”
Seems some folks think that because a person legally purchased a gun that they’ll be “responsible” with it upon leaving the home. Despite stats to the contrary. Good luck because we all know that more guns out and about with the general public makes us all safer.
I do not understand how the SC infringed on a states rights/laws? I'll agree that more people possibly carrying concealed doesn't excite me.
Mayor Adams, whom I like, will hopefully pass ne legislation about it.0 -

I'm not a gun guy/fan but would that gun have been legal following this decision?Usually the beginning of a phrase is the most important part.
Your quote is missing the first phrase of 2a,
” A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State…”
obviously in 1791 jargon, militia is clearly synonymous with military in todays language. And that phrase, seemingly clearly, is talking about national security.
until 2008 at least, when Scalia invented the “two comma rule” for that phrase, regulation was an important component of gun rights. And many believe to this day, that 2a is referring to the people within the militia/military.0 -

Why shouldn’t someone be able to conceal carry into MSG for a PJ show? Maybe they want to wear their I Love Nickleback tee shirt? Why should any place restrict your 2A? Hospitals, banks, airports, arenas, etc. why are they special or different from a subway, crowded city sidewalk or a dark alley or deserted street?09/15/1998 & 09/16/1998, Mansfield, MA; 08/29/00 08/30/00, Mansfield, MA; 07/02/03, 07/03/03, Mansfield, MA; 09/28/04, 09/29/04, Boston, MA; 09/22/05, Halifax, NS; 05/24/06, 05/25/06, Boston, MA; 07/22/06, 07/23/06, Gorge, WA; 06/27/2008, Hartford; 06/28/08, 06/30/08, Mansfield; 08/18/2009, O2, London, UK; 10/30/09, 10/31/09, Philadelphia, PA; 05/15/10, Hartford, CT; 05/17/10, Boston, MA; 05/20/10, 05/21/10, NY, NY; 06/22/10, Dublin, IRE; 06/23/10, Northern Ireland; 09/03/11, 09/04/11, Alpine Valley, WI; 09/11/11, 09/12/11, Toronto, Ont; 09/14/11, Ottawa, Ont; 09/15/11, Hamilton, Ont; 07/02/2012, Prague, Czech Republic; 07/04/2012 & 07/05/2012, Berlin, Germany; 07/07/2012, Stockholm, Sweden; 09/30/2012, Missoula, MT; 07/16/2013, London, Ont; 07/19/2013, Chicago, IL; 10/15/2013 & 10/16/2013, Worcester, MA; 10/21/2013 & 10/22/2013, Philadelphia, PA; 10/25/2013, Hartford, CT; 11/29/2013, Portland, OR; 11/30/2013, Spokane, WA; 12/04/2013, Vancouver, BC; 12/06/2013, Seattle, WA; 10/03/2014, St. Louis. we are on the path to see democracy get crushed here. Remember how vocal everyone was about loving FF? It’s gotten fairly silent since Biden but the plans to bring fascism to the US are just being held quietly. These extreme FF lovers are “taking names and making lists”. And with the piece’s of shit sitting on the SC we don’t stand a chance.0 -

so let me get this straight.
the supreme court will overrule and overturn a state's own gun laws and say everyone can have a gun, but also overrule state laws that allow abortion.
am i understanding this correctly?

And with the piece’s of shit sitting on the SC we don’t stand a chance. To Hal’s comment, only six states had restrictive carry laws, so most states PJ plays in, encountering a gun on the walk over would have been realistic. Arenas of course are free to restrict guns on entry. We are here because flip flopping Independents have been more worried about the price of gas or who gives a better speech than the abuse of power from the likes of trump and McConnell over the past eight years that led to this extremist court. Turns out a filibuster is a very effective way to keep extremists off the court.
If we lived in a country where independents could understand this long game, what is required to have a balanced court, it’s possible democrats could add justices to the court in the near future, which is 100% constitutional.
but we don’t so they won’t.0 -

am i understanding this correctly?Rather shocking, but even more unsettling is that in the U.S. there are now more Republicans than there are Democrats. Imagine that- more people in the U.S. stand behind the party that brought us 45.Not to sound like a drama king, but I find figures like that and a lot of what is going on in this country to be hugely depressing. Also, I haven’t heard anything about loosening the regulations on who can get a gun, just on who can carry. NY still has one of the strictest laws for getting a gun.
I would agree the automatic conceal carry thing is ridiculous though.Post edited by mace1229 on0 -

Kinda sorta/ now and then. Feeling dull? Oh yeah, yes'm!As for the Rep/Dem stats., I got them from a Gallup poll that claims the majority changed over from Dem to Rep in 2021. But it's Gallup and I don't bet on horses so who knows? Could be a ruse! Could but a bunch of old geezers with dementia is running that poll these days."It's a sad and beautiful world"-Roberto Benigni0
