I came across this in the news tonight - threw off my night as I'm trying to get work done. From the Toronto area..... this is sad and downright scary stuff. We're going backwards as humans..... the hate and callousness is so unsettling and rising.

Yeah, New York Times mentioned this:

"Around the same time, a manifesto attributed to him appeared online, repeatedly invoking the racist idea that white Americans were at risk of being replaced by people of color. The view is known as “replacement theory” and was once linked to the far-right fringe, but it has become increasingly mainstream."

That bolded part is what I found even more disturbing.  If that be true, WTF is going to become of this country?  The thought makes me sick.

It is true that mental health is an issue. But you are right in that some use it as the shiny object to move the attention away from the guns…and racism.

Not to mention, if you are in government and want to blame or talk about mental health being the issue and then you do nothing to help it….you are part of the problem.

Yet is it not true the the Republican party in general has embraced all things Trump/QAnon/Radical right?

We just got our mail in ballots for the June primaries and I told my wife that without a single doubt or hesitation, I will vote strictly Democratic party-line.  I generally do anyway but at least will give Republicans some consideration.  Not this time.  No way.

I was never one to hit the whole party button either and I’m struggling with what to do this election.

10 years ago I would have found that infuriating. Now  I live it.  I don’t feel like I have the luxury to examine stances and issues with the threat to vote 3rd.  Now it’s about maintaining the republic.  I once voted 3rd for Governor.  The GQP candidate in my state is nuts and I won’t even consider that voting for anyone but the incumbent Dem.

i read earlier that the parents are cooperating with police. there was a warning sign in june 2021 when the shooter threatened to do voilent acts at a high school graduation. he was sent for a mental health evaluation but i guess he passed that and was released.

it isn't just the internet. tucker carlson endorses the replacement theory, as to actually sitting members of congress. 

we have an information crisis in the country, in the sense that too many people are being fed bs conspiracy theories and outright lies and when confronted with the truth they simply refuse to believe it. we are in dangerous territory in this country.

if the past is any predictor, this kind of thing will happen again and again and again.
