More than that, it was assault. It could have easily escalated and Chris could have been seriously hurt depending on how Will struck him. The applause for Will, the fact he was allowed to stay there and not immediately charge, and then given an award and went up there justifying his actions as being a 'vessel for love' and 'defending his family' was absolutely appalling.
If this were a random audience member at one of Chris Rock's standup shows, then I'm willing to bet that, at the very least, that random audience member gets escorted out of the auditorium. Whether to press charges would, of course, still be up to Chris Rock in this hypothetical because that's the fucked up country in which we live. I'd press my luck here, though, and bet that Rock would press charges against a random audience member over Will Smith.

In that instance, it wouldn't be a matter of it making a difference to me -- but whether it made it to them?

I thought the joke was funny w the bald head. I had no idea that she had alopecia. I thought that was something you had all your life and not something that got worse as you got older. My buddy and his daughter both have that.0

Just saw the uncensored clip. Will Smith has had it with Hollywood and people making fun of him and his wife’s situation. The man is on the verge of becoming a Hollywood statistic of someone who loses it….I’m looking at Mel Gibson for similarities.0

The funniest thing about this is he upstaged his own Best Actor win.2000: Camden 1, 2003: Philly, State College, Camden 1, MSG 2, Hershey, 2004: Reading, 2005: Philly, 2006: Camden 1, 2, East Rutherford 1, 2007: Lollapalooza, 2008: Camden 1, Washington D.C., MSG 1, 2, 2009: Philly 1, 2, 3, 4, 2010: Bristol, MSG 2, 2011: PJ20 1, 2, 2012: Made In America, 2013: Brooklyn 2, Philly 2, 2014: Denver, 2015: Global Citizen Festival, 2016: Philly 2, Fenway 1, 2018: Fenway 1, 2, 2021: Sea. bootlegger10 said:Of course he has. Why in the world would he want to waste time with all the court b.s. over a face slap from Will Smith? I'd just want to move on from it. But hypothetically, do you think he would waste time with all the court b.s. with a less monied and less celebrated violent offender (that is to say, one with no chance of fighting it in court)?
I just feel bad for the next average American goon who gets offended by a comedian's joke at a standup show and now thinks it's OK to assault the comedian because there will be no legal consequences.I SAW PEARL JAM0 -

I could see charging someone you thought would be a repeat offender. But if you thought it was random, felt like the offender was sorry, and wasn’t going to endanger someone else or yourself, then it seems like something I would move on from assuming no injury.I would bet there are bar fights every day that are much worse than this that don’t result in charges on either side.0 -

So fucking weird Will smith won Best Actor after this. Like what are the odds. But, ofcourse him being nominated and a big star makes him being placed on the front row. Otherwise maybe he would have been placed on row 2 or 3. And that would have made it harder to have that kind of an outburst. So in a way the odds were bigger because of him being a star and nominated.Post edited by Spiritual_Chaos on"Mostly I think that people react sensitively because they know you’ve got a point"0

If Smith should be charged with anything, it should be for slapping like a bitch. If you're gonna slap a man (which is already pathetic) in defense of your wife, you need to hit him with some palm. Make him feel it. Rock hardly flinched. I could see why people thought initially it might've been a joke. If someone told me to slap them in the face as a joke, I'd slap exactly as hard as Smith did.2000: Camden 1, 2003: Philly, State College, Camden 1, MSG 2, Hershey, 2004: Reading, 2005: Philly, 2006: Camden 1, 2, East Rutherford 1, 2007: Lollapalooza, 2008: Camden 1, Washington D.C., MSG 1, 2, 2009: Philly 1, 2, 3, 4, 2010: Bristol, MSG 2, 2011: PJ20 1, 2, 2012: Made In America, 2013: Brooklyn 2, Philly 2, 2014: Denver, 2015: Global Citizen Festival, 2016: Philly 2, Fenway 1, 2018: Fenway 1, 2, 2021: Sea. I've noticed the change in human behavior where this will becoming more of a norm. People running on to ball fields or wanting to do something drastic for their IG.0 -
