I hope this catches steam... figured I'd take a shot at the X days of vinyl challenge, but condense it. Below will be 15 different general themes. Each theme requires one album. My rules for this game are: 
-no repeating bands (Although Chris Cornell & Soundgarden are acceptable separate responses)
-no greatest hits
-live albums are OK

    Wondering what happened to #2 & #3?
    Great thread idea, this could change tomorrow but my initial thoughts without over analyzing were:

    4. Guilty Pleasure - Madonna True Blue
    5. You don't understand why this band/artist isn't touring stadiums - Primus Sailing the Seas of Cheese 
    6. Childhood - Tears for Fears Song From the Big Chair
    7. You got on board before everyone else you know did - Wary + Strange Amythyst Kiah 
    8. Rainy Day - PJ Binaural
    9. Before the 90s - Jane’s Addiction XXX
    10. This is me, in album form - Fugazi s/t

    this is harder than I thought without using PJ more than once and not using Greatest Hits albums.

    1. Reminds you of better days - Nirvana - Nevermind (only in the musical sense - it was such an awakening - I love my life now more than that time but it just opened up what was then alternative)

    2. Guilty Pleasure - Grease Soundtrack (yes I'm a guy but a few great songs on this that I really enjoy)

    4. Childhood - Billy Joel The Stranger - sisters had it, friends had it, all over the radio - couldn't escape it - and still like it

    Amen on Jimmy Eat World.  I haven't listened to them in years but their first few albums were amazing.

    I like World Party. It is a solo project from Karl Wallinger of the Waterboys. It might not be your thing.
