    After catching both song rehearsals yesterday, it’s really making me want to catch a show this round. Saw both LA shows in 2019 and was going to pass on this tour, but if I see they’re playing 7empest at the first few shows I’ll definitely grab a ticket.

    Back in 2010, I was at one of the first One Day As Lion surprise shows which was in the afternoon. While we were waiting for them to go on, I happened to check Ticketmaster and catch a ticket release for the Tool show later that night. Glad I made the impulse decision to go because they broke out Right In Two that night!

    I think odds are pretty good about getting 7empest. They had that in the nightly rotation the last 7-10 shows before COVID hit.

    Maynard confirmed recently that they do have Puscifer live streams for the 1st two albums in the works... hopefully we see those more sooner than later to tide you over!

    I caught the first gig they did that had five Fear Inoclulum songs in the set. Was a real treat. They played 7empest third-so if they play that early you might be in for that treat (I don't really give a toss about Culling Voices). Maynard had Covid at the time so unfortunately we didn't get Swamp Song or The Patient at either gig in Auckland-guessing he gave his voice the best chance to do as many songs as possible.

    It's been 6 or 8 years since they played Lateralus.... with all the 10+ minute songs from FI that they're playing, it's a pretty safe bet that one won't make the cut. 

    You could probably bet the house on hearing the other 3 though.

    Just went and looked. Last played in 2018 in Philly. Excluding that show, 2014 was the last it was in rotation.

    Edit: They did not play it in 2018. It was a demo. I didn't read the notes in the setlist, my bad.

    That was probably the workshop they did sans Maynard. 

    A pretty cool idea IMO, I would have been all over that if they came to Boston.

    They have several songs in the catalog that are awesome closers.....but Lateralus might be the best concert closer I've ever heard/seen.  Those 2001 shows were great.

    yep. My first Tool show was in 2001.  The Grudge as an opener was a face melting situation!

    Same here. Was an absolute privilege to hear Maynard in all his screaming glory. Alas, I've never gotten to see Eulogy live but seeing H was otherworldly. Pushit too.

    The Lateralus tour was absolutely their peak, at least in my experience, I only saw them as far back as ‘97…  personally I preferred the ‘02 shows I saw over ‘01 (I think they skipped Triad when I saw them in ‘01). 

    When I found the complete Long Beach ‘02 concert that I went to w/ my brother on YouTube I felt like I hit the lottery.

    I prefer the 2001 shows over the 02. More guttural and raw. A real dividing line between that and going all out with the more heady technical vibe.

    06 and 07 were great too with the whited out stage and oceans of lasers but the Lateralus tours were peak.

    The '01 and '07 shows I saw were the most lackluster performances I've seen from this band.

    Yah the show I saw on the Lateralus tour almost put me off the band.  It wasn't a very good show.  Luckily I saw them around 06/07 in Edmonton and it restored my faith int he band.

    The 1997 lollapalooza show at the Gorge was one of the craziest sets I'd ever seen.  The crowd was insane :)

    Likewise, the '97 Lolla set I saw was unf'ingbeleivable... Maynard in his inflatable bra / kabuki makeup, Chancellor & Jones were each painted head to toe, one green, the other blue... opened w/ Hooker & played Eulogy as well. I never saw anything like it before in my life. 

    I found that set on youtube as well, although I think there's more footage of the back of peoples' heads than the band; regardless, t's still awesome to listen to.

    Thanks for mentioning the Long Beach show was on YouTube! Went to the Forum and Long Beach on that '02 Lateralus tour and loved those shows. Snagged one of Danny's signed drum heads that they threw out into the crowd at the end of the Long Beach show!!
