2. None. Never tried. I collect by the motto that you can’t have everything. Can you imagine being a true completist collector of The Beatles, Stones, or Led Zeppelin?
I do have all 4 Fixer records and I still argue w Dlaowsky about there being a 5th. I believe it to be the color wearing out or mixed to make it lighter. He disagrees, lol.
A bit off topic but I'll ask here because I forget where you had mentioned this, but somewhere you said something about a Dischord box set. I'm curious as to what this has in it. One of these days, I want to delve into their catalog a bit more.

So these are the very first (6) 7" releases from Dischord when the movement was getting some momentum. you have a very young Henry Garfield(Rollins) in his band SOA as well as MacKaye. There is also the Teen Idles, Minor Threat, Government Issue and Youth Brigade. Not the west coast Youth Brigade...
It was made to order so who knows how many were made? I'm just excited to own them as the OG's that GuyDudeBro owns are write expensive.0 -

Or maybe lets take it a step further and imagine someone attempting this: To have every vinyl pressing of every Beatles record from every country including test pressings, remasters, etc., AND the same for every CD, reel to reel tape, 8-track tape, DAT tape, cassette tape, FLAC file, every download card, AND every Beatles movie on every film format, AND every book and ebook ever written about the Beatles, AND every magazine and Beatles fanzine every publishes, AND.. I know, if I keep someone is going to shoot me!
They must have rooms that look like museums. I believe I have seen a few photos that actually do look that way.tempo_n_groove said:brianlux said:tempo_n_groove said:Guy Dudebro said:1. Completist means exactly that. Every pressing from every country, every different promo, and every test pressing.

I collect what i listen to and like.
Love to find rare stuff, but won't drop fat cash. Hunting is most of the fun.
Try to pick up all pj vaults b/c it's easy. Honestly don't spin them often, but I'm hooked.
Have lots of black sabbath stuff. Not all for sure.

Pearl Jam (I don't do vaults..too pricey with Canadian shopping costs)

City and Colour
Foo Fighters
Closing in on QOTSA, Coldplay, White Stripes...The amount of music Mark Lanegan has produced is mind boggling. I have 15 Mark Lanegan/Mark Lanegan Band albums. I have two Screaming Trees releases and two of the QOTSA albums he is on and am nowhere near being “complete”.0 -

2. My Morning Jacket, Elliott Smith, Ben Harper (all releases), Soundgarden, Spoon, Brandi Carlile, Radiohead
I'd say PJ, but I don't own Benny or LD
I kind of hate to admit this, but with all due respect to Pearl Jam, if I had a copy of Lost Dogs in vinyl I would sell it. I have the CD and it is my least played PJ.
crazy talk.

I'm not trying to troll here, but I don't understand having a playable copy and a copy thats sealed. Like whats the point? I mean, unless its an investment to sell later.
And this isn't even a "play the record" type post. I guess my POV is, space is limited and having a copy where you interact with only 25% of the item (which is also available on the playable copy) doesn't really make sense to me. Is it a backup in case the playable gets ruined?
I mean, is it to just remember what it looked like on a store rack or fresh out of the shipping box? I don't get it.

Yeah, no offense intended to collectors, but that seems a little odd to me as well.
But at the risk of being hypocritical, I do have one such album- an open original Twin Tones Record copy of The Replacements Let it Be, and a sealed copy of the same that I bought at Amoeba in San Francisco some years ago for $19.99. I would consider it to be a good investment if I ever sell it (probably worth about $200 today).

- Mint OGs framed on the wall is my kind of art work. I enjoy seeing them.
- I buy a second for trades later. They can come in handy, particulalry when they increase in value and looking for a rare record not in your collection.
- I buy a second because the album is just so important that if it were to be damaged that there is little to no chance of an RE

LOL, I know! Lost Dogs on vinyl is a holy grail for many PJ fans. It just doesn't do it for me. If I had one, I would keep thinking about how many other records I could have if I sold it!

Maybe we'll get lucky and one of us finds one in a thrift store to sell on eBay!

I think collecting music, and having OCD is a terrible combination, lol
I was just listening to the 50th anniversary release of The Doors LA Woman, and thought "how many copies do I have of this"..... well I have 8, damn, why do I have that many. And I love the album, but it's no where near my favorite record. And this example is just one of many that I have.
I think, for me, it comes down to the hunt of variants and searching for that "best" pressing.0 -
