Capitalism Sucks.

Most platinum buyers are PJ/10c. Why not sell all tickets at same price? Service fee on platinum tickets costs more than 10c ticket.Go Beavers said:...10c gives people a better shot than just selling it through the monopoly that is ticketmaster.

I would hate to give Ticketmaster any ideas, but it would be pretty simple software to just have people put in their bids on tickets and then just allocate the best seats to the highest bid. This would maximize the artist's haul and Ticketmaster's (once they make the service fee a % of the ticket price).
Coming soon, would be my guess That's when capitalism is really involved. Pretty much eliminates the scalper market too.0 -

Ticketmaster has been doing that for years, it's called Platinum tickets with dynamic pricing; only slightly different than you describe. They set a very high price for the best tickets. If people start buying those they raise the price. If people don't pay the top price they eventually lower the price.kaw753 said:I would hate to give Ticketmaster any ideas, but it would be pretty simple software to just have people put in their bids on tickets and then just allocate the best seats to the highest bid. Prices shouldn’t be shocking to anyone. Small tour, even smaller venues. That’s going to mean costly tickets. And he’s got a group now, not just solo.I’ve seen Ed solo 3 times. Always a good show. Never compared to the full band though, so easy for me to skip with prices like this. But if you enjoy solo Ed as much as PJ, that’s not all that bad for the venues.0

Ed's chatter on the next tour runs the risk of coming across very, very badly.___________________________________________

People like to say it sucks and then they sell their stuff on eBay to the highest bidder

Ya know I used to feel a little bad selling older posters, now Ed is my roll model...every single item, to the highest bidder, got it.cp3iverson said:People like to say it sucks and then they sell their stuff on eBay to the highest bidder

What really cracks me up is all the negative talk about flippers, then people selling their clear Nc here for $200 before it even ships. And then others tell them good luck.cp3iverson said:People like to say it sucks and then they sell their stuff on eBay to the highest bidder
Im all okay with that, but I don’t openly complain about flippers either.Post edited by mace1229 on0 -
Straw man unless you can point to a specific person who said A and did B. There are a lot of generalized statements about "people" in this thread but no one ever identifies a specific person who's actually being a hypocrite. It's like if I say I don't believe in killing animals for food, and then someone replies, "People say they care about animals and then they go to a restaurant and get a steak." Well, no, I don't do that. That's something other people do that you're attributing to me. Some people actually do have principles and they stick to them. This isn't to say that they're right, about ticket prices or killing animals for food, but they're not hypocrites.cp3iverson said:People like to say it sucks and then they sell their stuff on eBay to the highest bidder

What's the cutoff ticket price for his chatter to be acceptable?

I would check with Bernie on this one.

It's a sliding scale. Over $200, no chatter is acceptable. Between $150 and $200, light eat-the-rich chatter is permitted, but only during the encore. Between $100 and $150, the main set is fair game. Between $50 and $100, harsh but generic condemnations of the wealthy are O.K. Below $50, it's a free-for-all. He can name names.Go Beavers said:JimmyV said:Ed's chatter on the next tour runs the risk of coming across very, very badly.

Okay, I know they aren't communists. It is just a country as you pointed out that was under communist rule but, have been under tight control by their government/ruling entities ever since they became a "free and capitalistic society". I was trying to make a quick point. I'm always amused when people go out of their way to try and appear more intelligent than others on the internet.BF25394 said:There an awful lot of straw man arguments being made here. Something to keep in mind: if an individual expresses an opinion, unless you can point to that individual expressing a contrary opinion, it is not a valid argument to claim that the person is a hypocrite because unidentified "people" have expressed contrary opinions.
Also, for the record, to the one poster who included Russia among the socialist/Communist countries that people aren't flocking to enter: Russia hasn't been Communist for thirty years. It is a capitalist country. It's a kleptocratic authoritarian oligarchy and a petrostate, but it's capitalist.0 -
I was actually just trying to take potshots at Russia.smile6680 said:

That's funny. My mistake for the misunderstanding. Have a good night.0

And I would guess a scruffy Glen Hansard has even more leeway.0
