    RIP indeed. A true musician and tremendous songwriter. Back in 2016, I bought tickets to see The Monkees when they passed through town, so I could say I got to see them (even if it was just Micky and Peter touring), and planned on taking my Dad. The day before the show I got an email from the venue telling me that Peter Tork had to bow out of that specific date due to a personal matter BUT Nez was coming to fill in. I couldn't believe it. I mean, after their heyday Mike wasn't too keen on being a Monkee, so I felt like I hit the jackpot. My dad and I had a blast and they put on a really good show. They played a bunch more Nesmith stuff that they hadn't been playing since he was there. It was this show that spurred Mike and Micky to do a couple tours together after Peter passed - the farewell of which just wrapped up in the middle of November. Feel very honored to say I got to see him live.

    I saw the Monkees sometime in the late 80s when Mike Nesmith was not with them, but the other 3 were there. I also remember seeing his son Jason Nesmith's band Nancy Boy play in a club in NYC in the mid 1990's. That band also had Donovan's son - a progeny super group I guess.

    Oh no.  Tears falling down for Michael Nesmith.  The Monkeys were a lot of fun, but Nesmith was so much more than just the that band.
    First National Band, great song writing, Repo Man, Tape Heads, two novels.  A talented and amazing, creative man.

    only monkee still alive is Micky Dolenz. I used to watch the show when i was a kid, it was stupid but fun.

    Just read an interesting article on Mike Nesmith. Apparently he came up with a show that he sold to Warner that later evolved into MTV. He was also the first person to put a barcode on a vinyl record.

    I loved the Monkees when I was a kid.  I think they were right up their Batman reruns for my favourite things to watch.  It's a shame I never got around to seeing a show :(
