2,3,4 have to be front runners unless they are committed to opening up with a new song.

It’s a hard song to get excited for at this point, I agree…but I’m not gonna lie: as the opener for the first post-pandemic Pearl Jam show, I can definitely see it making me bawl my eyes out like a big ol’ baby.

Best deployment of EWBTCIAST was when they turned around to the back at MSG & played for the behind-the-stage crowd.

Both good songs, but work better somewhere near the middle. Like if a PJ show is a 3-act play, then somewhere near the end of the 1st, or beginning of the 2nd. They will go for something familiar, and with weight. Again, good songs.

Have to go with a Gigaton opener. Remember when Lightning Bolt was released? Pendulum was a pretty frequent opener!

    Hhmmmm.
Who Ever Said -- I could see that being a good opener.  IMO, this record has does not have a Pendulum

    What about Alright?

I think under normal circumstances an Opener from Gigaton could happened.

But, I'm guessing a Rocker will open like Corduroy or Given to fly.

If not a Rocker then Long Road.

Festival set, 1st show in 3 years, I think they come out rocking so I'll say it's going to be Corduroy.   Go is a good second choice if they come out rocking.   A long shot but would be a killer opener for this situation would be RearViewMirror.

I don't think you get any Gigaton songs until about 5 songs in.  Festival crowd they are going for the sure fire start I think.  I think end up with 5 songs from Gigaton for SHN.   Superblood Wolfmoon, Dance of the Clairvoyants, Quick Escape, 7 O'Clock and Retrograde.  I'd luv to have a no covers set (or maybe just Crazy Mary)  shelving Baba and RITFW for PJ songs at the end but doubt that happens.  I'd love to see Even Flow become a closer to the end song.  Think it would get a new life as the last song or two before Yellow Ledbetter.

I hope they use the Gigaton intro with whatever song they start with

I will have to listen to Alright again with a comp to Pendulum/opener in mind.
In general I don't care too much for that song, whereas I liked Pendulum as a slow burner from the jump.

Something that rocks. No Long Road or Release sort of stuff. Give me Go, Why Go, Corduroy, etc.

My prediction is actually Superblood Wolfmoon.

Any other show? Who knows. But this is the first show in 3 years. There will be casual fans & diehard fans. Almost 620,000 dead from Covid-19 in the U.S. alone, and seven times that worldwide. They'll start the show like a wave: slow & methodical, and building to a crescendo of catharsis.
Long Road, Release, Small Town, LBC... hell, even Alright. The only rocker I can see opening the show, is Corduroy. Otherwise, bank on the previously mentioned. For those that aren't here today, you can pretty much etch that in stone.
Then a wave will come crashing like a fist to the jaw.
