I would say maybe it’s time that the leagues GMs met this summer to figure this out…but I think the GMs know their teams and even though players bitch about non calls, the player prefer to play 5 on 5 hockey…we will see who refs game 7.  I have heard nada about any Kuching updates for games 7.  All anyone can do is speculate that it’s more than just bruised ribs…

Do they weed out refs for the finals? And only give those assignments to better refs?

The Mayfield cross check was a bit dirty but that didn’t affect the outcome the Isles never give up, game 7 anything is possible man what a series..

It took Kucherov out of the game. He played one shift. I would say taking out the leading points man in the NHL the last two years affects the game.

He went to hit Barzal after the check and had no force. I think he was hurt already.  If you go back to 20 second earlier,  he got mauled in the back.  I'm 99% sure it was the Mayfield cross check.  It was right in the ribs.

I'll give you that.. he's not Dale Hunter or Claude Lemieux.  Isles played hard, I'm not taking anything away from them.  The officiating is just bad though.  Very inconsistent and the crosses are just completely out of control.  I'll be pissed if the Lightning lose Friday as I think they are the best team in hockey.  I'm biased, but not blind.

Yes.  The NHL is meritocracy when hanging out assignments…Chris Lee has never worked a Stanley Cup finals game…rumour is that Wes  McCauley will be available for the final…He is a good ref.

You don't see the physical play that Tampa is trying to impose on the Isles then you are watching something different.  From the very first game Tampa tried bullying the Isles.  The commentators even remarked how the Isles needed to be more physical and they have.

Yeah,  Tampa is physical.  It works,  contrary to your statement.  They just aren't as dirty as Mayfield who took out Kuch and tried to take out Stammer with the cheap head shot to the board. Or Barzal who crossed Rutta with a stick to the jaw.
