New album is awesome.  The Adults are Talking is my favorite song so far.

Have you had a chance to stream it yet? Or holding out for the vinyl?

Waiting for the vinyl. I've only heard the first single.

Just checked tracking...after hanging out in Memphis for the last 2-3 days for some reason, it's supposed to arrive today! I ordered the Red Opaque from Bull Moose because the local shop said they didn't think they were getting any in. It turns out they received 30 copies. Oh well.

I love the album. Took a little to get into but I can’t stop listening. Is this a safe place to say I like it far better than gigaton? I guess if there’s the 36 new replies in an hour , it wasn’t safe.

better than Gigaton? possible. It's definitely up there as my favorite album this year (along with Gigaton and Tame Impala's Slow Rush).

Eternal summer.......so good. This album is much better than I anticipated. Gigaton has gotten very little attention this week....

Just noticed Rick Rubin produced the album. No wonder it's so damn good.

Finally got my vinyl from Amazon.  The packaging on this album is really annoying.  I love the album but what a pain in the ass to actually get the record out to play it.

I’ve read this a couple different places now, that the actual vinyl is insane to get out of the packaging.  I have a copy on the way that’s arriving soon, so I’ll ask my stupid question now- any tips or tricks how to get it open correctly?  Not even sure what the specific deal with it is, just know some have mentioned almost damaging theirs when trying to open.
No time to be void or save up on life, you gotta spend it all.

Yeah, it's in a thick plastic sleeve. I opened mine from the top & removed the LP. Once it was removed, I used some goo gone to get rid of the glue. I then replaced the glue with a strip of velcro. You don't have to replace it, but it was my wife's idea and I thought it was a good one. My LP was the red version, so I'm not sure of all of the packaging is the same or not.

I was curious how they would sound without Nick but from the video I saw they sounded great

So their headlining set to finish off Shaky Knees was… questionable at best.

Casablancas seemed completely out of it and like he didn't want to be there. Made some snarky comments throughout about the crowd/city, couldn't remember lyrics, tons of technical issues and apparently at one point the lead guitar guy walked off and almost had to be convinced to come back on? Idk the truth to that one as I left before that, but it sounds like it fits the narrative.

Ended up leaving early because I didn’t want that to be my impression of them every time I want to listen to them. Bummer way to end the weekend.

Come to read on social media he is always this way?? I found that a bit odd how many people said this in support of the set and it certainly doesn't make me want to try and see them again.

Seems like the general impression it left on the crowd based on social media was that it was no good though. The band besides Casablancas sounded good at least. And when we left (after 5 songs I think it was) there was certainly no shortage of people thinking the same because we were in a crowd of people dipping.

Well, that's disappointing to hear. We've seen them a handful of times and I don't recall seeing any behavior like that. The New Abnormal may be one of my favorite albums to come out in the last 10-15 years & would still like to see them properly tour for that album.

He is not what he used to be. Abnormal is a good way to describe him oddly enough. Their first 3 or 4 albums and tours He was more focused and more into the band but he has been more irratic and less focused the last few tours and album cycles. I think his solo/voidz persona has crept into the Strokes world and it's not a great fit really. The Strokes always sounded best as a traditional rock band and i don't think that's what he wants to do anymore really so there is a little tension there.
