I failed as a superaunt but the concert was EXCELLENT!

My niece and I were wearing orange orioles shirts, and we were in 4th row right smack dab in front of Eddie Vedder.

obiwon76, hrd2imgn, and Okum said hello before the show started, and that was very cool. It's nice to put faces to tags, and earlier that afternoon I was showing my niece the Trading Stories with the Leaves Zines. hrd2imgn is in all of them. Also, a security guard had a pack of earplugs ready for my niece, but I brought some. That was very a nice gesture anyway.

The setlist was excellent. As long as they play Given to Fly nothing else really matters. In fact if they ever play it 20 times in a row, I won't complain :D I soar to that song.

It was hot. Severed Hand, Even Flow, and Crazy Mary were excellent as always. I was wondering if the mic was going to blow up like in Philly 05, and then Eddie would have to apologize for calling the independently spirited Mary a crazy person. It's all a matter of perspective :)

The playing was excellent. It was my favorite concert. I can't wait to buy my niece and I official hardcopy bootlegs.

Why I failed as a superaunt, and ultimately will have to go to SuperAunt night school:

My niece mentioned a couple times that she was tired. One time we got up to get souvenirs. Then I told her about how her cousins each received a pic from Mike and a tamborine from Eddie during the E. Rutherford 06' shows. I couldn't guarantee that she would get them, but I mean we were wearing bright orange. How could they not see us? She agreed to stay to the end, and we both hoped that she would get a souvenir from the band. Anyhoo, she wasn't thrown a pic or a tamborine. She said that she would go to another PJ show, and that she did enjoy herself, but I felt like I strung her along, and I just felt bad.

As we were walking out of our row A VERY NICE MAN just hands his Mike McCready pic to my niece. Holy SHIT! That was so nice. I'm still amazed! Whoever you are, you rock!

Eddie waived and winked at my niece.

PJ and tenclub thank you for 4th row, and the excellent concert! My niece plays guitar and I hope she was inspired. She has her weekly guitar lesson tomorrow. She should have a lot to say to her teacher.

    My next niece, the younger sister of the niece I took to the DC '08 show, should be ready to attend a concert in 2012.

    It was great meeting you as well! Sometime next tour I am sure as well! I was glad your niece got a pick from a person as I was hoping that Ed would send a tamb. her way since he gave out like 8!

    you didn't fail as an aunt....i wish i had an aunt or uncle had taken me to say a zeppelin or who concert back in the day....you did a great job!! :D

    My aunt, god bless her, took us to the zoo. I think you did fine as a superaunt! Shit, 4th row? Could I pretend to be your niece the next time you get tickets? I'm a 33 year old dude though, is that a problem?

    Took my son (almost 10) to his first show for MSG 1. Got 14th row center on the aisle. Between the second and third encore, he tells me he is tired and wants to go. No sooner does he ask this than a security guard walks up to him and escorts him to the front barrier for the entire final encore. Of course, Dad gets told to go back to his seat, that my son is "his special guest for the rest of the show". He got a pick from Stone, but, alas, it fell out of his pocket on the train.

    So, he is going to write the 10 Club a letter explaining what happened and hope for the best (wish this didn't fall into the "lessons learned" chapter for both of us, as I feel as bad that I just did not make him give me the pick to hold on to until we got home).

    Wow! That's really cool that your son was the special guest. I would have freaked out a little if I wasn't allowed to go up front with her to make sure my niece's ok- I worry a lot, worry worry worry.
