All-time blues rock best is Zeppelin, because they just did it best lol
Favorite blues blues is the one who Hendrix copied, Buddy Guy. I don't have beef about it, but Hendrix gets a TON of credit that Buddy Guy deserves, including some of Hendrix's "innovation" and stage presence, which are emulations of Buddy. Little Wing though, he gets credit on that brilliance, but then SRV took it to another level.
Zeppelin: Since I've Been Loving You - that's about as great as blues can be.Spectrum 10/27/09; New Orleans JazzFest 5/1/10; Made in America 9/2/12; Phila, PA 10/21/13; Phila, PA 10/22/13; Baltimore Arena 10/27/13; Phila, PA 4/28/16; Phila, PA 4/29/16; Fenway Park 8/7/16; Fenway Park 9/2/18; Asbury Park 9/18/21; Camden 9/14/22; Las Vegas 5/16/24; Las Vegas 5/18/24; Phila, PA 9/7/24; Phila, PA 9/9/24; Baltimore Arena 9/12/24; Pittsburgh 5/16/25; Pittsburgh 5/18/25

That blues covers album that the Stones released a few years back is fantastic. Really enjoyed that.

I don't know that one. I saw the show on tv they played with muddy waters at that tiny club. I may have to watch that again soon.0

It seems like Mick and Keith get a lot of the credit there, but it was really Brian Jones who was the blues instigator early on- at least that's my understanding.Another great blues-rock player, one I've been listening to a lot again these days, is that big lovable Great Fatsby, Leslie West.

Every time I see this thread, a very perplexing question arises in my head, one that has been asked many times. The question arises because almost all the examples given here of rock musicians singing the blues are white bands. So the question is: "Can white people sing the blues?"There are good arguments suggesting they should not. Here's a good example of what I mean:That article presents an argument against whites singing and playing the blues that is hard to argue against. I have about 65 albums filed under blues in my collection. Almost all of the artists represented in that section are black musicians. My blues section does not include cross-over artists like John Mayall, Canned Heat, Harvey Mandel, or The Rolling Stones (etc.), all of whom are steeped in the blues. In years past, I had kept some of those white artists in my blues section but eventually pulled them out. To my way of thinking, blues is basically a black music genre. But then wait! I see I still have Charlie Musselwhite and Paul Butterfield filed under "blues". How do you not keep Charlie filed under "blues"? Also, my John Mayall records are in their own little section (because I have several of them), but how do you not connect John to the blues? And the same for Paul Butterfield? So again, that question nags at me. I still think blues is basically a black music genre. But am I able to be as true to that notion as the author of the article linked above? Evidently I am not.

I usually call my cousin Eli Cook for a good fix of the blues. He has played with BB King, Gary Clark jr and many others through the years. Currently working on a new album.Virginia Beach 2000
