SRV. Hands down. He could play the guitar just like he was ringing a bell. Dude was a force of nature.

Zep. Whitesnake.
I didn't list Jimi as blues but if I should, he would be #2.

To tough to choose. For blues/rock, probably Jimi Hendrix, but right up there is John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers, Cream, Harvey Mandel, Paul Butterfeild Blues Band, and, of course The Rolling Stones.
All of whom owe their fame and fortune, of course, to the real blues giants like,
Charlie Patton
Robert Johnson
Blind Lemon Jefferson
Rev. Gary Davis
Son House
John Lee Curtis "Sonny Boy" Williamson
Alex Miller aka Sonny Boy Williamson II
Leadbelly
Big Bill Broonzy
Howlin' Wolf
Lightnin' Hopkins
Otis Rush
Mississippi John Hurt
J. B. Lenoir
Elmore James
Muddy Waters
B. B. King
T-Bone Walker
John Lee Hooker
Buddy Guy
Taj Mahal
And others I can't think of right off the top of my head.

Black Pumas are killing it right now. All-time blues rock best is Zeppelin, because they just did it best lol
Favorite blues blues is the one who Hendrix copied, Buddy Guy. I don't have beef about it, but Hendrix gets a TON of credit that Buddy Guy deserves, including some of Hendrix's "innovation" and stage presence, which are emulations of Buddy. Little Wing though, he gets credit on that brilliance, but then SRV took it to another level.

Get his album Hendrix: Blues. Nice electric and acoustic Jimi singing the blues more old school.
I second this. Fantastic album. I need to get it on vinyl.

Somehow Buddy Guy played a song on Stone Free: A Tribute to Jimi Hendrix - but I guess the man has got to pay the bills.
Zeppelin: Since I've Been Loving You - that's about as great as blues can be.

For sure, cool stuff! It seems like Mick and Keith get a lot of the credit there, but it was really Brian Jones who was the blues instigator early on- at least that's my understanding.
Another great blues-rock player, one I've been listening to a lot again these days, is that big lovable Great Fatsby, Leslie West.
