It always weird me out and makes me feel old when I compare how old movies are. Like that the Lord Of The Rings are as old now as Empire Strikes Back was when LOTR came out.0

I know, thats why it makes me feel old when I think about it. ESB felt like such an old moving in 2001. Younger people must think LOTR is an old movie now too, even though it doesn't feel like it to me.0

I don’t mind getting older, really. The physical side has definitely become more trying the last few years (*mostly* my fault for the cirrhosis but that’s beside the point), yet I dig the perspectives gained and lessons learned that are only borne with time.
That said, just working out and washing my hair today did me in
And I’m supposed to go to a family thing this evening?! Oy.0 -

Ive noticed that as I get older (43) I notice I need to rest a lot more as i don't t have as much energy as I used to :( I think with older age you need to rest and recuperate more. But right now I have the flu!
Good luck with you hip(s) Brian.
It may come to that and I'm not so much opposed to the idea (I have two pieces of space aged plastic holding my innards in place- hernia repairs- so I already have some artificial parts), but what concerns me the most is the high rate of staph infection that results post-surgery. Lots of lives are ruined or even ended by staph infection. I'll limp along as long as possible before taking that risk!

I knew I was getting old when many of my favorite albums were released over 40 years ago, and I bought them when they were first released!0

I have been blessed with good hair, close to 58 and still have natural color, have never dyed my hair. Have some grey strands here and there but almost not noticeable.
However, a combination of quitting smoking and the pandemic weight gain has appeared as “old” lady weight gain, all around my midsection. Blah. Blah.
For the first time, just this week, I bought a vitamin that has Tumeric, which I am told will help with joint pain. I played softball for years and my knees are shot.
So although I feel normal in my head, my body is telling me differently.
Don't come closer or I'll have to go0 -
That's good that you quit smoking @PureandEasy
I keep going through phases of smoking and then stopping, to only end up eating lots of sweets. It's the revolving door syndrome with just regular symptom substitution. Perhaps I could just get some sugar free/nicirette gum or something?!

My wife started getting "trigger finger" (aka stenosing tenosynovitis) in one of her fingers. Hearing that it's somewhat to arthritis (something I have been quit familiar with for about 30 years) I started adding to turmeric and glucosamine sulfate with MSM to her vitamin regimen. She no longer has trigger finger.I've been taking both substances for years. Although arthritis is giving me a fair amount of grief these days, without them I am certain I would be in even more pain all the time. Before I started taking turmeric and GS with MSM, I almost had to give up playing guitar. 25 years later, I can play!

...when you start talking to your guitar.
I tried and tries to get my Little Martin LX1 in tune this evening. I gave her new strings a few days ago and she sounded great. And then tonight, I couldn't get her to tune just right. I finally said out loud, "OK, you get the night off." And then a few minutes later, I walked by and half pleaded/ half scolded, "Why do you do that?"
I know, it's me, not her. Too old to tune properly, old enough to start talking to guitars.
We'll try again tomorrow."It's a sad and beautiful world"-Roberto Benigni0 -
OK, I'm not making this up! You know you're old when your vision is such that you miss-read things. I was scanning through the All Encompassing Trip thread titles and was slightly shocked to read these two:Favorite Curb Your Euthanasia CharacterGreen Beret Casserole-- Amazing or Disgusting?

When you pull your damn back by reaching for a cereal box. Good god, man. Old sports injury that pops up at random times. It's been painful for almost 2 days.
I LOVE MUSIC.

I hear ya, mfc! A little less than two weeks ago I reached in the fridge for something and felt that tell-tale little *piiiinng* in my back. I iced it right away but still, by the next morning, my back was in so much pain I couldn't put my own shoes on or get dressed. My wife had to do something because she was leaving that evening to be gone for a week to go see her daughter. She got me dressed and took me to the E.R. where the shot me up full of pain meds. If this had happened the next day when she was gone, things would have really gotten interesting.

My back issue is strange. Most of the time it's a temporary thing where I can stretch it out. As I've gotten older, it seems to linger a bit longer. This latest bout is ridiculous. Cereal??? Seriously?
I think that I should go see my DR about it and go from there. Just a pain in the ass (& back).I LOVE MUSIC.
