Yup... if people truly gave a f about police, they would be against allowing people access to AR15s, among other weapons of war.Gern Blansten said:And pro gun = warrior against tyranny = taking up arms against US soldiers/police

I don't understand why police unions are not more vocal about this....I feel like I'm missing something. Or are the police the militant idiots?Merkin Baller said:

Most mass shootings aren't either.
It seems to be the one rifle that is very taboo though. That and the AK. Everyone knows those names.0 -

26% of the last 80 shootings were AR-15....not "most" but it is clearly an issue.tempo_n_groove said:

I have always been big about putting more funding toward police. We need more, they need to be smarter, better trained, better paid, compassionate, etc. Not fucking Rambo wannabes ready to shoot anything that moves.static111 said:

The problem is unless you clean house and start from scratch none of that can be achieved because that Rambo/American Warzone culture has taken hold and is deep in the ranks.Gern Blansten said:

No, no it's not.
U.S. Has At Least 20 Million Assault Rifles.
(or "short, compact, selective-fire weapons that fire a cartridge intermediate in power between submachine gun and rifle cartridges." for you ammosexuals out there)
By … 2009, the estimated total number of firearms available to civilians in the United States had increased to approximately 310 million: 114 million handguns, 110 million rifles, and 86 million shotguns(36).
that means 6.4% of guns are responsible for 26% of mass shootings
that's high frequency
Semi-automatic rifles have been used in six of the ten deadliest mass shooting events.
that's high severity
/handguns need to be better regulated as well0 -
OK so I have to ask. If most gun crimes are caused with a handgun, mass shootings, etc. How is it not more frequent?CM189191 said:tempo_n_groove said:

Total number of firearms to me has zero to do with this so not sure why that is even mentioned? There are 5-1/2 times as many handguns as there are "select fire' or improper term AR's.
that means 6.4% of guns are responsible for 26% of mass shootings
that's high frequency
What does this mean? what does it have to do with this?
Everything I read says that handguns are far and wide used more in deaths and mass shootings.0 -

Yes, handguns are used in more deaths and mass shootings. Simply because there are many more handguns than assault rifles.
Someone mentioned, "26% of the last 80 shootings were AR-15....not "most" but it is clearly an issue."
While that may be technically accurate, it doesn't paint a full picture.
When taken in proportion to gun ownership: Assault Rifles are used in more deaths and mass shootings./handguns need to be better regulated as well

That's a phrase I'll never utter again since it always diverts the discussion into a rundown of proper labeling of guns.
