So I went to go see Stone tonight at the Wilbur Theater. I was really surprised at the turn around. There was only maybe like 75 people there. It definitely made the show intimate. I was also kinda bummed at how short Stone's set was. He came on first (after two songs of the Roy Kay Trio) and played six or so songs and then the Dusty 45's came out and he played a Hank Williams song with them. The kid that Stone keeps talking about, Vince Mira came out and he played for over an hour. I give him credit he does sound identical to Johnny Cash, but it got old after five songs. I was hoping for another song with Stone or something at the end but he only came out to say goodbye.

There were great moments all around last night. Stone ended his set with Prince's "1999" and Motorhead's "Ace of Spades". Both were fantastic renditions and if anything 1999 just makes me want a Pearl Jam cover of Purple Rain more and more. (Maybe on the X-Mas LP?) The Dusty 45's surprised me the most. Having never heard of them I really wasn't expecting much, but after about a minute and a half you knew they were gonna rock! The singer played guitar and trumpet, the drummer played harmonica while drumming at the same time! And the up-right bass player was playing the frickin' thing upside down. Genius.

Im going to the NYC show. What time does he go on?
  • there is a brief video presentation about global warming at seven thirty and he's on about 8, 815. I mean don't get me wrong, the entire concert is fantastic. It was just going in expecting at least an hour of Stone and only getting six songs was kind of depressing.

I'm going to the show on Saturday. While I'm not thrilled to hear Stone is only doing 6 songs, I can't be upset about it. It's not really a "Stone Gossard" event, as much as it's a benefit. I'm thinking that 6 songs is worth 20 bucks alone, and I'm always interested in getting turned on to new music. Plus, the money is going towards a good cause.

It was general admission, except for the bottom was for the planters, but not enough people showed up so we got to sit wherever we wanted.

They didn't make us move, but told us the floor was opening up to everyone due to lack of people showing up. At that moment the front center table emptied and we grabbed it.

I think we were sitting near each other before you moved. I ended up moving to the little section to the left with the cheap fake candles haha

I was originally sitting in the front row on the balcony, by the aisle. Me, my fiance, and the 2 10C'ers behind us moved to the table.

    wow.

i bought tix to the brooklyn gig b/c a. only $20 a ticket and b. it's for a really good cause. however, i have been working like a dog and i am sick as a dog....and have been considering skipping the show b/c of these 2 factors b/c work will continue to be crazy for another week and a half and i could really use an entire weekend in bed! reading this makes me think i may just do that. i really did want to check out stone solo, but hubby wasn't as into it as i thought he'd be....i am so tired/sick.....and 6 songs? sheesh. i am sure the whole show is cool and all that, but yea, i was going for stone....so i may just look at it as a donation only, no biggie.

btw - i never got an email confirmation from 10c. it IS in my profile, but no email. i emailed 10c but they have not gotten back to me. did you all get an email confimration for the show? just curious.
