Couple things with this release: There was a non-RSD repress of this. Only difference is the RSD is on 180g, the repress is140g. I grabbed a repress last year on Amazon for around $60. Evidently, the repress must be OOP as the prices on Discogs/eBay are around $400 now.

I’d consider holding off now this for a bit. I wouldn’t be surprised if another repress/release by Rhino/VMP could be in the pipes.

Also if you are looking for this primarily for the Scarlet > Fire run, it is included in the GD Long Strange Trip Soundtrack box set which is OOP and not super cheap anymore either.

Amazing - thank you so much @jerparker20 for the wealth of knowledge.  I'll sit tight for a re-press unless I am miraculously able to find the orig. RSD or a less expensive repress.  I've also looked for the LST soundtrack and can't find for a reasonable amount.  I have pre-ordered the "From the Vaults" from Light in the Attic.  The Cap Theatre set for "Three" looks particularly amazing ("Wharf Rat" probably my favorite track).  Do you know if these "From the Vaults" are official releases or unofficial?

I had no idea these were a thing. The “One from the Vault” is a reissue. These are official releases cut by Kevin Gray. Should be good quality. GD are weird in that they seem to license releases to a bunch of different labels like Light in the Attic, Friday Music, Rhino, Rounder Records, etc..

Thanks again for the Dick's Picks rec @jerparker20 - I found one of these sealed at a record shop in KY for retail: https://www.discogs.com/sell/release/14535617?ev=rb (on it's way to me now).  Can't wait to spin.

That’s a nice set. The first “Wall of Sound” show.

I have the Portland ‘74 box set from a few years ago. It’s not very good, at least sound and quality wise. Donna’s mic was hot and she was way of key. Also the vocals were not recorded for a handful of songs, so one side of a record is instrumental only. The set you bought is much, much better. I believe I know of one in the wild in my area. Might have pick a copy up before it’s too expensive. Enjoy!

Sweet.  I'll report back about how this one sounds when it arrives.  Was stoked to find it in the wild.

I hope they re-release the Cornell show. Prices are crazy high at the moment. Just picked up a Buffalo RSD vinyl. Store in Dublin still has a few copies in stock.

Me too!  I also have the Buffalo and I love it (my local actually 3-4 copies left if anyone needs.)  Looks like a new DP Vol. 36 is coming out soon from one of their all time great shows (being released on Real Gone Music.)  Hope I can snag one.

I just order the VMP Story of the Grateful Dead box set from Acoustic Sounds. My wife may kill me, and I may be made to unload some of my GD sets and OG copies of some of the titles in the set, but...

They do have the Cornell ‘77 set up on their site. Currently listed as backorder, but may be worth a follow in case it comes back in stock. Listed at $120.

NICE find!  Also, the VMP is so sick - I've come close to pulling the trigger a few times.  I notices that also have the Dick's Picks Vol. 36 on pre-order for way more than Real Gone Music (the label) so if anyone thinking about that one (and it's a legendary show), wait for release info on RGM.

My prob with Dicks Picks on wax is the sound.  It’s no better than the available versions on cd, and honestly I’m not getting off my ass to flip records 10 times to listen to a show when I can stream it for free :)

I have Cornell and a ton of other dead though.  Good luck in your search!

I recommend ReListen.  It’s an app that pretty much has it all.  Been spending my days reliving dead and phish shows I was at in the 90’s lately, it’s amazing.

You are probably right, but I actually don't mind the flipping - I enjoy the ceremony of it all.  But yes, sometimes I will definitely stream stuff that I also have on vinyl.  Just depends on my mood (and energy level).

Thanks for the rec on ReListen - sounds amazing and will absolutely check it out.  I wish I had seen the Dead (only really recently got into them) and only saw Phish once in '95 but they are on my list now when music ever comes back.  Happy Sunday all.

I would be cautious with much of the Dead on vinyl pre 1977 shows.  Most is 2 and 8 track except for the Europe 72 tour which I think they did exclusively on 24.   So you are not necessarily going to get some amazing vinyl analog experience.  Likely better off trying to hunt down the HDCD issues of dicks picks and such.
His eminence has yet to show.

New DP's finally up in Real Gone Music's shop - I suspect these will go quick: https://realgonemusic.com/collections/vinyl/products/grateful-dead-dicks-picks-36-7-lp-set.
