So sad. He and the show are both icons. What a loss.

Very sad.  Glad he made it to 80.  Still too soon.  Always seemed like a great guy.
I loved when that guy made his Final Jeopardy answer “we love you Alex”

Loved him on Double Dare and Classic Concentration.  One of the classiest TV personalities we have ever had the pleasure of watching.

I had a friend remind me that him and Sean Connery passed away in about a week of one another.

Not sure which comedy show I liked him better in. Cheers' Mama's Family or Golden Girls?

Saw it reported today it’s going to be new episodes leading up to his final episode due to air on Christmas Day.

    Yes, 35 more episodes.

I got choked up watching the special on him.  Had no idea that he was suffering.  Dude kept it on the downlow like Chadwick Boseman did.

It was common knowledge that he was fighting cancer....Black Panther didn't tell people.
I didn't see the special on him but would be interested in learning more about him.

    Cancer sucks balls.

His last episode set to air on Christmas day.
Tribute to him by the show's producer tonight before the show started, guy got choked up.

So did I, especially when they dimmed the lights on the set. I really liked that a brief tribute to Trebek ran pretty much every commercial break during Wheel Of Fortune as well.

@helplessdancer, thanks for posting the SCTV clip, it was as good as the SNL sketches!

The game show of my childhood through college. Watched it religiously as a kid and kept score with answers I knew. Played the online game back in the early days of the internet and then later had the PlayStation game. Always been a trivia buff so Jeopardy was my favorite.

RIP Alex. You were one of a kind.
    It's a hopeless situation...
