    Top three I have seen:
    The Jimi Hendrix Experience
    Neil Young and Crazy Horse
    The Who

Runners up that I have seen:
Pearl Jam (very hard to not place in the top three!)
Bob Dylan with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
    Sun Ra and Solar Arkestra

Top three I have not seen but are the best to me of ones I have heard from recordings:
    The Dream Syndicate
    Dinosaur Jr
The Replacements (on a good night!)

The Replacements were amazing....one great anthem after another.....Left of the Dial, Bastards of the Young, Can't Hardly Wait, etc.

    Dinosaur Jr. are excessively loooouuuuddd!

So cool that you've seen the 'Mats.  And DIno too.  WOW!!!

I so would love to see Dino, but I have too much hearing damage already.  Thank God for the live Bug video and vinyl and YouTube!

    Quantity or Quality?

By quantity of shows I've attended, the order is:
    Wilco
    Pearl Jam
    Soul Asylum

But, if you combine Old 97s and Rhett Miller solo shows into one entity, then that would be Number 1.

Quality? Well, those four bands are pretty damn good, but there's so many other great live bands to choose! Hard to not include the Drive By Truckers in a top-whatever live bands list. Los Lobos are also a lot of fun live. And a Richard Thompson solo shows is always pretty special.

So many to choose from. Can't do three! Sorry OP.

    Interactive club shows:
GWAR (sorry mom and dad) horror show at it's bloodiest, beyond  offensive and disgusting
Murphy's Law (might get kicked in the head)
DRI (just great if you grew up brainwashing yourself listening to them like I did)
Fishbone (saw them twice, last time a few years ago, just pure fun, talent...)
Richie Ramone (legend with the punk rock drumming)
    Madball
    Agnostic front
Cro-mags (quick rough sing along set)
(Any old school hardcore band still trying)
Joseph Arthur (only show that squeezed my emotions out of me) plus you never really know what to expect. Solo acoustic, plugged in shredding, art on stage. Was seeing him live for a while after rndm introduced me to him.
Symphony X (prog metal, my old friend drums with them otherwise they would have flown under my radar) worth listening to. Live they don't miss a beat.
    Faith No More
    Pearl Jam
Primus or any Les Claypool creation

    Oh yeah....
    AC/DC
    Judas Priest
    Alice Cooper
    Motorhead
    Anthrax
    Misfits
    Galactic
    Ministry
    Revolting Cocks
    Skinny Puppy
    Soundgarden
    Demolition Hammer
    Nuclear Assault
    Slayer
Alice in Chains (they opened for Slayer and I missed them because I thought any band named Alice must be lame) caught them later at loolapalooza and I was wrong.
    Henry Rollins...

    You get the point..

Hope I don't derail the thread, but I enjoyed the flashback!
