    Ha, exactly!  Maybe the officers said “well, he’s white, so let’s try to just shoot him in the ass and leg”...or more likely the fella is lucky that he didn’t get hit somewhere more severe in the gunfight.  Not to mention, your chance of bleeding out and dying is still pretty high if you are shot in the leg.  Most likely it was just where the hail of gunfire managed to connect (either due to cover or positioning).

    Does anyone here really believe that if the perp in the PA cigar store were Black, shot at someone and then opened fire on the police with two firearms, their attorney would be saying how fortunate they are to have only been shot in the ass and leg?     Most people survive shootings. The number of people who are injured by guns is much larger than those killed by guns. That’s why every weekend when you hear about Chicago it’s like 65 shooting victims and 12 deaths. 
    But for some reason when it’s a white guy shot by police logic doesn’t matter. The police must have gotten together, under fire, and came up with a strategy to only injure the guy wielding an assault rifle, putting their own lives on the line to do so. It doesn’t matter he’s unloading an assault rifle on us, lets just get one good leg shot in and then miss a bunch so it’s not obvious. Yeah, that makes sense.

    I believe if a guy is shooting at cops with an ak-47, they are going to return fire to eliminate the risk no matter what color he is. And yes, he would have likely survived even being black. More people survive gunshots than die. Even for trained police, the hit rate for an active gunfight is like 10%. No way they were aiming for his leg. He got lucky. Race doesn’t play a role in luck.

    Look, I don’t ignore the fact that white privilege is a real thing, but it is tiring that some people claim “white privilege” in some of these situations.  Those idiots are only fueling the racism fire.

     
    It does more damage in my opinion. 
    This is isn’t the only cause of course. But young black men are being taught to physically fight back against cops. I’ve heard parents say they tell their kids if a cop approaches you don’t cooperate. After Rayshard Brooks, I saw an interview on CNN. I forget who the guest was and what show, so I can’t provide a clip. But the guest said Brooks did what he had to do to survive. He knew the cops approached him with plans to kill him and if he got in the back seat of that car he was dead. So his only option was to take the taser and use it. And of course the CNN anchor agreed. That is so absurd. And he just gotten in the car he would be out of jail on a suspended license right now.

    Hundreds if thousands of police interactions happen every day and we hear of almost none of them because they go down without incident. Saying every white guy who survives did so because he’s white is ridiculous. Saying every black man who died because he’s blacked is also ridiculous. Race doesn’t play a role is the majority of it. But we need to improve so We can drop that 3 or 5% it is a factor in down to 0. Because I can agree, it unfortunately is a factor some of the time, just not in every instance that some want you to believe it is.

More guns is the answer yet cops, who I’d expect would be required to be more proficient with firearms, only strike their target 10% of the time in an active shootout. Blacks are 2.5 times more likely to be killed by police but because you could find one example of a Black guy walking away with handcuffs after a shootout with cops, race doesn’t, or in this instance, didn’t come into play. If the perp were Black, they would have been waiting outside his house in an armored personnel carrier and he wouldn’t have been allowed to get in his truck and drive away. And they would have made Swiss cheese of him. GTFOH with you’re “race played no part.”

    You are saying the only reason this guy survived is because he is white, and if he was black you know without a shadow of doubt he would not have. You can make this about whatever you want, but it isn't that complex. It is a simple difference of opinion, and you got what you were after.

    You do realize a gun fight isn’t like shooting  at a sitting target? They usually last a few seconds and in that time you’re running for cover, the target is moving and shooting. 10-15% seems pretty reasonable in those circumstances. But because I believe in stats that makes me a gun nutter I guess.

    i didnt said race never plays a role. But in this case it didn’t. They shot at him multiple times. You seem to think the cops intentionally miss a guy shooting at them with an assault rifle because he’s white, and if he was black they’d aim better and have hit vital parts and not just the leg. That’s ridiculous.
