Particularly bad review of Gigaton

Long RedLong Red NY Posts: 185
If you're familiar with this guy, it's probably no surprise that he didn't like Gigaton. But the dismissive way he talks about it is infuriating. Trash opinion. Anyways, watch for yourself and get angry with me. The PJ review is at about the 14 minute mark.

Not surprised, he trashed Tool's new album too (as well as many other good albums).

I've noticed the YouTube "music critics" for the most part don't like the album. As opposed to the print media critics who do.

A guy who doesn’t like pearl jam, not liking the new album isn’t too surprising. I listened to a few of the reviews and he really doesn’t say much about anything, just pretentious commentary for most part

I've seen a decent amount of his videos and appreciate his insight and musical knowledge.  I guess a lot of the time, though, it's for music I don't know, so it's surprising when he trashes things I know and really like.  Oh well, art is subjective and all that.

This guy is a total tool. He also shouldn’t be reviewing records by bands he doesn’t like.

This guy does pseudo “Ted Talks” (people pay to go) and is the self proclaimed internet’s busiest “music nerd”.
He has built quite the business reviewing music on the internet.... for that I have to commend him. YouTube provided people this great opportunity.
I don’t always agree with him, but true “freedom” is being allowed to express your opinion.  I find some of his stuff entertaining, particularly the “let’s argue” stuff.  I also think calling him names because he doesn’t like PJ is disingenuous.  It’s kind of “Trump-like” Twitter blather we should all avoid.

He doesn’t like PJ, get over it. Who cares?

After watching for 30 seconds I was not surprised he has a lot of time to listen to music and make these videos.

Don't see what's so surprising or odd about it? (Except for the guys persona)

Pretty much sums up what my brother and two of my friends said about the album.

If you haven't heard people criticizing Pearl Jam before, get out of your bubble a bit.

Not everyone likes Pearl Jam.  It is how he chooses his words that people have a problem with.

Music critic, lol, good one. Who gives a rats ass what a critic thinks? And he thinks he's famous? I've never heard of this dude until I read this post.

I didn't bother to listed, but to be fair, if it's not PJ, I might give a new album only a spin or two before I decided whether I like it.  I know personally Gigaton was a "it had to grow on me" kind of album.    The older I get the less I find the time to let albums grow on me.   Not every album hits you out of the gate.

So when someone reviews album, and they give it one list, I can fully understand why they might not like it.   There's plenty of albums I should of given a better change too.

Maybe I need to spin the new Tool album again... I think I listed to it a few times and moved on :(

When it comes to PJ, like all ya'll I consider myself an expert.  Don't need any outside opinions I will break down the tape on my own.  I'm surprisingly fair and impartial when I listen to a new PJ song or album.  There have been some not so great albums over years, Gigaton however is really really good.  Yes it may take a couple listens to "get it" but once you process what your ears are hearing the clouds open up.

Hard to take something like this serious when he just mass produces reviews and gives this album 40 seconds of thoughts.
