Buy Albums and Merchi've bought about 8 records the last few weeks, and have purchased 4 or 5 t shirts.
i had to buy a 2nd PJ tiny concert shirt because i accidently washed it in a load of whites with a brand new black sock and it turned the tiny concert shirt pink. i was pissed, but i feel like it is okay to support PJ by buying a 2nd shirt."You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln

No.
Nothing against the gesture itself, but right now our "extra" money going toward ourselves and people who need it or are risking their health to assist others.0 -

I love the idea, but we are holding what money we previously set aside in our budget for donations for possibly needing to help people we know (a few of whom are musicians) who may need help before this is all over (that could even be ourselves if this lasts too long).I would love to be wealthy enough to be able to send money to lesser know, struggling artists. I've often imagined that if I won the lottery, I would open a local music venue and invite all my favorite non-rich musicians and bands to come and play and pay them more than they are used to getting. What a thrill that would be!But no, that's not gonna happen this year... or maybe this life."It's a sad and beautiful world"-Roberto Benigni0

Depends on who you mean by "they." For every Pearl Jam, U2, and Bruce Springsteen there are several that are just getting by and might legitimately be impacted by not being able to play live. That said, they're not the first people I am thinking about either.

Good points. I am essential service. So I am just thankful that I am not contracted that virus. I work in a facility with 800 people making social distancing hard...OnWis97 said:Meltdown99 said:They don’t need my help...

As part of the aid package put together by the Canadian government there was around 270 million set aside for artist who need help...so that is something. Do not quote mr on the 270 million...but I know there was significant money to help.Give Peas A Chance…0 -
Nothing.
Anything extra would go to people working in hospitals / fire Dept / police / grocery / public works as well as people who lost their jobs in general because of this virus.
Nothing against artists or bands (or people working for many of the businesses for whatever reason deemed essential that I don't think are essential) but I would try to help those listed above first ..The love he receives is the love that is saved0 -

Buy Albums and MerchVinyl records specifically.
While I respect everyone’s opinion, I am purchasing new music to help with my mental health.... it gives me things to do on the days when I have to stay home and brings me a little bit of joy in the otherwise mundane existence of self-isolation.It also helps the small business owners who operate record shops locally and on Discogs. I certainly want them to come out of this strong. I may be actually buying more records than I would otherwise.
Im also donating to causes... each dollar I donate to the United Way is matched by my employer, which is matched by the government. So each $1 becomes $4.Basically, I am an essential worker and in the envious position of being able to do both.0 -

This is something you're doing for yourself. Which, by the way, is not only OK but absolutely necessary. People need to look out for themselves and do things for themselves.1ThoughtKnown said:Vinyl records specifically.

I understand your point, but when I buy the artist music... they do get a cut. I’m doing it for myself, while supporting the artists. Win-WinOnWis97 said:

The arts are taking a huge hit, both in deaths and the shut downs. Arts are important to our collective cultures and psyche. t’s going to be a tougher, new reality without the artists and their arts. Buy Albums and Mercha variety of ways....i've bought merch, given them tips equivalent to a ticket price, donated to the charity they are singing for, but the coolest one I've participated in so far was having a song sung for you. that sounds a little weird, but my two kids really enjoy this one singer, and I've taken them twice to see her live. since she can't tour, like everyone, she came up with the idea to buy a song, and she'd video tape it an sing it for you. I asked her to sing it to my kids, whom she's met, and it was just the coolest thing.0
