Pearl Jam's 'Gigaton' Coming To Canadian Cinemas

    pearl

Pearl Jam fans in eight cities across Canada will be able to get a sneak preview of the band’s new album Gigaton on March 25.

Pearl Jam Gigaton, running 80 minutes, features playback of the entire album in Dolby Atmos accompanied by visuals. Distributor Abramorama said the one-night-only event will take place at the following cinemas:

Calgary - Cineplex Scotiabank Theatre Chinook

    Edmonton - Cineplex Odeon South

West Kelowna - Landmark Cinemas Xtreme

    Montréal - Cineplex Forum

    Regina - Landmark Cinemas

    Woodbridge - Cineplex Vaughan

Toronto - Cineplex Yonge-Dundas and VIP

    Vancouver - Cineplex Scotiabank Theatre

According to CTV News, which first reported on the Canadian events, Pearl Jam has not made an official announcement about the album previews and the URL appearing on the official poster currently goes to a "Page Not Found" message. While Landmark has included Pearl Jam Gigaton in the "Coming Soon" section of its website for the West Kelowna and Regina locations, Cineplex has not yet started promoting the events online.

Gigaton, the first new studio album from Pearl Jam since 2013’s Lightning Bolt, will be released on March 27. It features a photo titled Ice Waterfall, which was snapped in Norway by Canadian filmmaker and marine biologist Paul Nicklen.

Pearl Jam will kick off the North American leg of its tour on March 18 at Toronto’s Scotiabank Centre and follow with shows in Ottawa on March 20, Quebec City on March 22 and Hamilton on March 24.

Probably wasn't going to go anyways, but If it is going to be 2 hours of visuals like that, I'm definitely going to pass. That's like watching old Tool/NIN videos on loop, with all the random clips popping on the screen. I'd get sick.

I really wonder if the places listed are the final list? After seeing the initial list last week I was hoping for more cinemas across Europe popping up when this becomes official. While I would have considered me lucky having a Screening in driving distance here in Austria I find it odd that there is no single date in Germany (yet)....

One show that is not even an AMC (that I pay $25/month for 3 tickets a week for) in the entire NYC area?

    Super.

    Pass I guess,
