Have a certain song you want to hear in a certain city? You have a request. Try saying please. Try being polite. Try asking nicely. These requests are often heard and these tactics often work.

Don't start a petition. The band doesn't owe you anything.

    I’ve always been a fan of please and thank you. 

    I just hope they can be heard beyond the cacophony of “I want”,  “you should”, and “gimme”.

    I am torn about song requests in general.  In one way I totally get it of course.  In another way I can't help but get kind of annoyed at all of them.  We all have a story...we all want to hear certain songs.  I see like 4 or 5 requests already for STL (they are all songs im sort of "meh" about).  I just want the band to play what THEY want not what one person wants for their situation.  But yes a "please and thank you" is always nice.
