I seriously don't understand what was trying to be accomplished if the Senate wasn't going to oust him in the first place.
Is it their fault the republicans are feckless cowards? You think because they are likely not to convict, they should say, aw, fuck it...go ahead and invite foreign countries to meddle in next year's elections with zero consequences! No, of course not. They did exactly what they had to do. They cannot control the senate.
Impeaching a president is not "ultimately failing". It is permanent and it is forever and it was the right thing to do. I think it's even more powerful a statement because it was not the most politically expedient move for them to make.
Now lets see if there can be a fair trial or not.

It's only recently that he became president and the dirt starts to come out that makes you see the other side of a person and not like him. I would say that a lot of people don't care about that side of him and still support him.
He was a D list celebrity who was in Home Alone for 5 seconds 30 years ago. As a D list celebrity nobody really bothered to look at his racist and corrupt record that dates back to the 1970's. Fuck, my wife and I liked him on the Apprentice for years. Always thought it was funny that a guy who bankrupted a casino four times was being hailed as a titan of business. But it was a stupid mindless tv show. Who really gave a shit at the time?
It was not until his racist birther-ism nonsense that people started taking a closer look at him and realizing what kind of person he was. This, mind you, was YEARS before he became president.

That said, this impeachment means nothing. I can’t imagine it sways public opinion in any meaningful way. We pretend that we are in an era where political norms apply and impeachment is a big deal. We are not in that era anymore. That is not a good thing. This impeachment is essentially the equivalent of a censure. Has no teeth. Trump went on stage and told some widow her husband was looking up at her from hell. Status quo continues.0 -

Yeah, I guess I can see that.Wonder about now? I am not a fan of Hillary, but in a "who is a better person match" she beats him like a drum.

What this continues to confirm is that written word means very little when there is no actual physical outcome. At the end of the day, this asshole has the same amount of power and control as he did at 800am yesterday. As he continues to realize nothing changes and support doesn't tank, he won't change. The only solution is voting him out. I may be pessimistic as hell and given up on the human race, but I am not quite at rock bottom like some of you on here talking about 30 more years of Trumps. There will be a civil war before that ever fucking happens; guaranteed.
It's a hopeless situation...0 -

2. We have laws on the books that provide a method for the DOJ to investigate the actions of US nationals in overseas dealings. This is the proper and lawful method to handle such situation.
3. The administration was withholding congressionally appropriated aid until the announcement took place. This aid was critical for the Ukrainian gov't to defend itself in an actual hot war.
I feel like you really didn't pay attention to this whole deal.0 -

I think we may have impeachment proceedings for every president from here on out. If for nothing else, the sport of it. Even though it’ll lead to nothing, to successfully impeach the president will be a feather in the cap of these Dems. So the Republicans will surely try to impeach the next Democrat president whether it’s justified or not.2000: Camden 1, 2003: Philly, State College, Camden 1, MSG 2, Hershey, 2004: Reading, 2005: Philly, 2006: Camden 1, 2, East Rutherford 1, 2007: Lollapalooza, 2008: Camden 1, Washington D.C., MSG 1, 2, 2009: Philly 1, 2, 3, 4, 2010: Bristol, MSG 2, 2011: PJ20 1, 2, 2012: Made In America, 2013: Brooklyn 2, Philly 2, 2014: Denver, 2015: Global Citizen Festival, 2016: Philly 2, Fenway 1, 2018: Fenway 1, 2, 2021: Sea.
