Just wanted to start a thread to discuss favorites new and old. This thread is all about UNDERGROUND metal. You can discuss Korn, RATM, Pantera, Metallica, Slipknot, and Tool in their own threads. No offense to those bands, but this is more about "extreme" underground metal and punk influenced bands. Some more established bands that are probably familiar to you, if you're an underground metal fan: Death, Bathory, Converge, Entombed, Darkthrone, Autopsy, Obituary, Death Angel, Behemoth, Possessed, Plasmatics, Carcass, Venom etc... What are your favorites?

Here’s a flyer I made for a little soirée we threw in LA Jan.3,1986. Lots of Bay Area representation here. I think Death Angel’s drummer was about 14 at that time. Pretty wild night. I can’t believe it was 34 fucking years ago...

4 of these bands had a decent following. Never heard of Possessed though?Guy Dudebro said:Here’s a flyer I made for a little soirée we threw in LA Jan.3,1986. Lots of Bay Area representation here. That is a rad flyer. Would have loved to have been at that show. Zed's records was a great store.Guy Dudebro said:Here’s a flyer I made for a little soirée we threw in LA Jan.3,1986. Possessed are legends and they just came out with a new album. This is their most legendary record. Sorry I couldn't embed it, but for some reason I can't get the share link on my computer at work.tempo_n_groove said:

I had an lp from them. They were all covered in blood. I should have kept it, but didnt give it the love it deserved. I love primus. Even though they suck.Guy Dudebro said:Larry Lalonde from Primus was in Possessed.0 -

I got to see Neurosis as a headliner w Converge supporting.
Converge killed but Neurosis was not my bag.
Their songs would build up and never "drop". They just moved on to another buildup. You kept waiting and waiting but it never came...0 -
^^^saw clutch in the 90s and I felt the same way. Never took me to where I hoped to go. Lots of clutch lovers so maybe it was a one off show and I should try again...30ish years later. Damn.0

Now for whatever reason I never got into Clutch in the 90's. No idea why... I hear their music and it kills. Don't understand How I missed them because it is a sound I like.Loujoe said:^^^saw clutch in the 90s and I felt the same way. Never took me to where I hoped to go.
