Pearl Jam Releases ‘Vault 9: Live In Seattle 12/8/93’ On Digital Services
- Scott Bernstein

Pearl Jam dug into their archives to release Vault 9: Live In Seattle 12/8/93, an official recording of the band’s December 8, 1993 performance at the Mercer Center in their hometown of Seattle. The set is now available on digital streaming services.
On December 7 – 9, 1993, Pearl Jam brought their tour in support of Vs. to the Mercer Center for three nights to end the jaunt. The band mixed eight songs from their 1991 debut album, Ten with seven tunes from Vs. as well as a covers of Neil Young‘s “Rockin’ In The Free World” and The Beatles’ “I’ve Got A Feeling” with “State Of Love & Trust” from the Singles soundtrack, the unreleased “Footsteps” and two tracks that would find their way onto 1994’s Vitalogy on the second night of the run. The cover of “I’ve Got A Feeling” came on the anniversary of John Lennon’s murder.
“If you’re looking to capture the raw, brazen and unbridled energy of Pearl Jam’s early era, then this is the concert for you,” explained Pearl Jam Radio’s Rob Bleetstein. “With only two albums of material to glean their setlist from, this high energy evening includes spellbinding takes on ‘Release,’ ‘Dissident,’ ‘Go’ and ‘Deep.’ The Momma Son trilogy of ‘Alive,’ ‘Once’ and ‘Footsteps’ is performed in sequence and the encore features the second ever performance of ‘Tremor Christ’ and paying tribute to the day this concert fell on, a scorching take on The Beatles’ ‘I’ve Got A Feeling.'”
