Can we talk Doncic for a second please.

Everyone with these stats that he's the first to do this before this one and that needs to stop.  This guy has been playing pro ball since he was 13.

    13!!!!

You know what Kobe was doing at 13?  Playing middleschool ball against middle school kids.

The comparison is just dumb.  The kid is already polished from banging bodies with older, mature players.

    Dumb.

I am also not exactly sold on him either.  He can light up any team that doesn't play Defense or plays really shitty D.

Who played against him on Denver and Boston?  Those are the only 2 games w teams that played him tough.
i thought Kobe started playing ball in Italy while his dad was coaching or playing over there.
He was in grade school when he was in Italy.
Bala Cynwyd Middle School once he came over to the states.

Question, I'm sure he was bigger than most people but was he head and shoulders better than everyone else?  Usually Middleschool is the first signs of that.

The thing then was that his dad was at the game and I feel like that was as big a deal because he used to play for the Sixers. I remember people talking about that as much or more than Kobe. Kobe must've had about 20 points in a game where his team had like 50. They crushed us.
I don't remember Kobe towering over everyone as much as you might think though. He was definitely taller but you could tell he was just a million times better than anyone else on the court. I had 2 points in garbage time!

Then in high school we played him twice a year (not me-I stopped playing after freshman year). It was like the Cowboys coming to town. We used to boo the hell out of him. When I was a senior one of my friends actually held him in check for the first half. They played a box and one defense. But then he just went off in the 2nd half and scored a thousand points.

  • Doncic killed the Red Hot Lakers...

I'm begining to think that he might be the real deal...

My favorite leader stat this year so far is seeing LBJ #1 in assists.  Would love to see him career trend this way.  Would like to see him at 20 PTS and 15AST a game.

That is correct.  I even asked on here what others thought of him.  I was very suspect of him and hype.

I'm coming around and seeing that the kid is the real deal.

Reason for pause is the hype machine that brings these players up in status that probably shouldn't like calling Kristaps a "unicorn" to me was ridiculous.  He wasn't that good.  He is in a perfect spot right now playing behind Doncic.

Report: Extra draft pick proposed as prize for in-season tournament

A potential midseason NBA tournament is far from a done deal, but if it happens, teams might be playing for more than a trophy and bragging rights.

Awarding the tournament winner an extra draft pick has been proposed as an incentive, league sources told Marc Stein of The New York Times, though that change would need to be approved by a vote at the NBA Board of Governors meeting in April.

The NBA is apparently eyeing its 75th anniversary season, 2021-22, to introduce the in-season tournament.

The soccer-inspired event is one of three major schedule changes reportedly being discussed by the league, the National Basketball Players Association, and NBA broadcast partners.

The G League will hold its own midseason tournament at its annual winter showcase event in mid-December. Teams will be ranked 1-28 based on their records through the first 12 games of the season.

The top four teams will be placed into the championship bracket while the remaining 24 teams will be placed into six four-team brackets. The tournament-winning club will receive $100,000, and the games will count toward regular-season records.

Honestly, the Rockets are one of the worst teams to watch play basketball!!  Watching Harden chuck up 38 shots (at 29%), PLUS 24 FT attempts. Honestly he flops better the Neymar. And then Westbrick has 30 shot attempts at 23.3%, is like having needles slowly put into my eyes.
Now before the haters jump all over me. YES both Harden and Westbrook are very talented players. My issue is with the "style" of game they play being atrocious. Very little ball movement and the current game is built for stat padding (by all players, not just these 2)
Neither have been able to produce consistently in playoffs when team actually focus for a 7 game series. Rant over.....

I was curious to look up their stats to see the AST  they both have and 7.1 and 7.8 a game respectively.  That's good. Then I look at their TO ratio and it's 4.3 and 5.2.

So as much as they pass the ball, half the time it goes to the other team...

Watched Dallas last night.  I'm good w Doncic.

What I am not good w is giving Carmelo player of the week...  I'm happy for him that he is back playing but could really care less that he is.

Good rant . Pretty much  spot on.

Watching Harden is not good if you have a headache, and if you don't have a headache he'll give you one.

Yeah, they both average a good amount of assists, and have done for most of their careers, but a lot of their assists come as the end of the shot clock after going ISO for 20 seconds, then kicking out to Tucker standing in the corner 3 spot, or an opp to Capela. They have even managed to make Alley-Oops boring....

A lot of what Harden is able to accomplish offensively is due to the reffing of the modern game and his ability to make the most of that (credit too him - he's making the most of what he is being allowed to do). A soon as he gets any contact he throws the arms up as in attempting a shot (which is just ruining the game when any player does it), which makes defenders very cautious of playing too tight on him. So then his 3 point shot is easier to get off and he also has  space to move into a step to get past the defender. The refs are also far too liberal with the travelling involved with his step backs. I remember they called Curry for a travel last season on the exact same move Harden does 10 times a game and doesn't get called for. In general the travelling calls have been atrocious over the last 5+ years for all the NBA. I have noticed this season they are calling a lot more travels on players on  the first step, but still not whilst dribbling then into step back or moves to the basket.

And the only people who like it, are the people watching 15 second clips on social media. Most people who watch actual games, want to see the game adjudicated as it was meant to be. But that's what the world has become in many facets, 15 seconds clips that get views on social media. Don't get me wrong, I watch some of these things too, but when kids are bought up only watching this, they think that's what is good about the sport. I go to watch my kids play (Highschool), and the kids watching the games, go apeshit when someone gets crossed over, and then I'll say, " But he missed the layup/shot", and they couln't care less.....

Look, I'm a bit old school, but I do love watching GOOD basketball, when there is ball movement (Warriors 2014 -2018, and I'm not a Warriors fan, Pheonix Suns with Steve Nash). Watching ISO ball for large portions of the game really is boring. ISO ball can be exciting for small moments in games, when you have a mismatch or to elites going at each other, but for the most part, it is not what basketball is about.
