The plane and car scenarios aren't applicable unless Boeing starts claiming they're the most powerful plane to hijack and crash in to a building or if Nissan advertises, hey, we can hit and run like no other. The supreme court is saying, how you advertise and the language you use matters. I like it. If the company Remington gets sued successfully it will open up the flood gates of more litigation as this would set a precedent.
Plane crashes because of pilot error? Sue the plane manufacturer.
Car crashes and kills because of operator error? Sue the car manufacturer.

The Lawyer for the parents said this "It wasn't just that they marketed the weapon looking for people with the characteristics of Adam Lanza. It's that Adam Lanza heard the message, and was driven specifically to the Bushmaster for his weapon for this combat mission."
