Why/how did the full MTV Unplugged get leaked?

What is the story of that? When did it "hit the scene"? How was it released from the MTV vaults? Etc.

    The better question is why wasn't it included on the dvd :(    They managed to add Oceans back in, but missed RiTW.  I suppose there could of been royalty issues, but it would of been cool to have a full dvd version.

    The raw version from the studio leaked about 10 maybe 12 years ago,  maybe even longer.  It has all the recording graphics from the studio (there was a term for it I cannot recall-  maybe director's cut).  The video was not as big a deal, it was actually a cleaner full audio version that most of us were clammoring for.  Some awesome guy remastered the audio and it was shared all over, virtually DVD quality, all the banter between takes, the whole show with commercial break content.  Getting the crowd ready, cross talk, tuning all of it.

    So the VHS, eventually digital  DVD of that became a big trade item in the old trader  circles.

    The source of it all I cannot recall, ask JR, or Gavin, they may  know.

    It is one of the few VHS tapes I still own!

    Yeah, that was unfortunate. And the overdub in oceans.

    Here's hoping they release a cd/vinyl/digital version of the show. It missed out not being released 25 years ago.

    Damn, I bought (and still own) the "We're Gonna Hungry," bootleg in 1993-94.  It has that Den Haug show on it.  All quality audio!  I listen to it to this day once or twice a year; back in the day, a few times a week

    with their history of releasing incomplete shows, this wouldn't surprise me in the least.
