Sorry if this is old news but WTF.  There is all kinds of GREAT music on this list.

I hope the artists take them for every penny.

If PJ has nothing to do with this story, why post it here?

Seemed like a huge deal to the music industry (especially the cover up part).  Temple of the Dog is on the list so seemed a bit PJ related.

At first, I wasn't all that concerned because most everything has had cd and/or vinyl releases.    Then I realized that a great deal of it includes the entire recording sessions.   Which unfortunately means these bands might of lost out on unreleased material :(

Yeah I didn't think it was that big of a deal until I saw this:

“There is nothing like the original master,” said Benmont Tench, keyboardist and founding member of Tom Petty’s Heartbreakers. While he said he does not know if any master recordings he was part of were destroyed, he was stunned for any of his peers who may have suffered losses.

“The master recording is like a painting,” he told The Times. “When you stand in front of the original, you are standing there in the presence of the artist. You can take a photo of the painting, but no photo — regardless of how high the resolution might be — can truly capture what’s in the original canvas.”

No more outtakes or remastered editions from those records.

Without the masters we wouldn't have the re-mixed version of Ten. Definitely wouldn't know he actually said something during the instrument break on Even Flow.
