In the hours before the Dayton shooting, the Twitter account "liked" several tweets about a shooting in El Paso that left 22 dead, including one supporting gun control and others that called the El Paso shooting suspect a "terrorist," and a "white supremacist."

The account retweeted messages supporting Sens. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, as well as posts against ICE agents, including one that said, "these people are monsters," and multiple posts condemning police, and supporting Antifa protesters, who often use violent tactics.

There were also many tweets of selfies, photos with a friend and ordinary memes and nonpolitical content.

The account was suspended by Twitter on Sunday evening. A Twitter spokesperson would not comment on the account, only saying in a statement, "We're proactively removing content that violates our policies and will be engaged with law enforcement, as appropriate."

Yeah, he actually went there with his sister and killed her right away. Seems targeted. I can't even imagine what the parents are feeling right now. Beyond comprehension.

Also, his sister's companion was also one of the first killed as well...

This one is best left to the police to figure out and I'm sure we'll know soon enough. El Paso is obvious.

Has the companion now died? The last I heard, he was recovering and I imagine sharing what he knows, if possible. He may have the answers.

I did not realize he was still alive. That is good news. Yes, maybe he has the answers. No doubt the shooter had a troubled past.

Apparently, we cannot discuss other shootings here unless it's considered a mass shooting...at least that's the impression I got when some dude was flapping his gums after I posted all the Chicago shootings.

I think the difficulty is conflating the two issues. While gun violence is a problem, mass shootings are a very specific problem that are perpetrated in a very specific way. I believe when we try to discuss them in tandem, it's easy for the 2A nutjobs to say "See, banning assault rifles isn't going to solve this problem, look at Chicago". When to me, the solutions are incremental. Gang violence and domestic violence seem to be the most difficult ones, whereas banning high capacity clips, ARs, etc. can help alleviate the carnage in the mass shootings.

Chicago is a very big city. The heavy majority of these shootings take place in a few neighborhoods that are completely overtaken by gangs and drug dealers. Nothing new in these areas.

South Korea does have a lot of suicides. Don’t pick and chose the data you use to fit your own narrative. Show the whole picture.

No he's implying that I'm parroting Ivanka, or that I agree with Ivanka. He does this whenever someone posts something that's critical of the left or can construed as right-wing. Apparently he follows Ivanka Trump on twitter? Ugh...

Truth be told, I didn't even know about this Chicago shooting (due to lack of coverage I guess) until this morning when I was talking to someone about the Texas and Ohio shootings, and they brought up Chicago. And I thought that a death toll of seven and over forty people wounded would fit in with the other shootings, so I posted this. And yeah, I did imply with my rhetorical questions that the media doesn't care about shootings like this because there's no white supremacy angle to take like in El Paso (which is a case where that angle SHOULD be brought up), and no "assault-style" rifles.
