So he was detained while investigated for being a flight risk...but now is out and presumably return before verdict. Strange

    Pia Johansson, Chief Judge/Expert:

    - In a normal case of assault, the sentence is between one and three months in prison. And then you can be conditionally released after two-thirds of the sentence. In that case, you can't keep him. Because then he has already served a large part of the sentence he could possibly be convicted of, she says.

    She continues:

     - By releasing him, they have reasoned that he is either fully acquitted or sentenced but to a prison sentence from which he would nevertheless be conditionally released.

Being conditionally released means that you are no longer deprived of liberty - but the penalty period you have left after the conditional release can be tagged on a possible new prison sentence if you commit a crime again during that period. That ASAP Rocky would commit new crimes in Sweden during a possible conditional release is unlikely as he is unlikely to be in Sweden.

  • Sweden's Prosecutor-General, Petra Lundh, responded in a letter on August 1, 2019, defending the independence of the prosecutor and the Swedish court. "No other prosecutor, not even I, may interfere with a specific case or try to affect the prosecutor responsible," wrote Lundh.
"Furthermore, when a person is charged and the case is brought before a court, only the court can decide, during or after the trial, whether or not to release the person or decide on supervised detention."

With a table full of fast food and ticker tape parade! A national holiday perhaps? Expressen:
The artist ASAP Rocky is convicted of the assault in Stockholm.
According to the Stockholm District Court, the penalty value corresponds to two months' imprisonment, but conditional sentence is chosen as a penalty. ASAP Rocky and his two co-defendants will pay SEK 12,500 in damages to the abused 19-year-old.

      - It doesn't feel good at all, says his mother Renee Black to Expressen

      Aftonbladet;:
Artist ASAP Rocky and his two co-accused are convicted of the abuse in Stockholm.
All three are sentenced to conditional judgment because there was no emergency defense situation in the brawl, the verdict states.
The three will also pay damages to the 19-year-old owner of SEK 12,500.

Sounds like everyone involved got what they deserved. ASAP Rocky (whoever he is) was found guilty, and the "victim" got a beating for initiating the conflict. Hopefully they've all learned their lessons.

Initiating the conflict? ASAPs bodyguard lifted the guy up by his throat and trashed his headphones. That was the initiating of the conflict, is my understanding.

      Anyways:

But now Magnus Strömberg, the 19-year-old's plaintiff's assistant, writes in an email to Expressen:

“I have been in contact with my client who told me that he is satisfied that the defendants have been convicted. However, he is unhappy that they were not sentenced for the violence with glass bottles he was exposed to. "

"His attitude is that he wants the prosecutor to appeal the verdict. In such an appeal he will also appeal. For him, it has been a strange experience to have been subjected to this violence, which has been documented, among other things, through pictures, but that the perpetrators are still not fully convicted. ”
