Very sad news....he was only 56.
The Beat's song "Save it for Later" is the song which PJ includes as a tag during Betterman.

I saw The English Beat (as they were known here in the states) open for The Clash in June of 1982. The Beat were a new band to me then so I don't remember Ranking Roger specifically, but I do remember totally digging their show and went out soon thereafter and bought one of their singles and an LP. Great, lively stuff- good times. I'm really sorry to hear Ranking Roger is gone-- too soon.R.I.P. Ranking Roger."It's a sad and beautiful world"-Roberto Benigni0

R.I.P. Roger. I just finished listening to The Clash's "Rock The Casbah" outtake with Ranking Roger on vocals (look for it on youtube if interested). Mick Jones and Roger were pretty tight. I only found out a few years ago that Mick Jones was a member of General Public and wrote music for and recorded guitar on the first album, before leaving to form Big Audio Dynamite. If you listen you can hear his backing vocals. There are a few tunes with guitar riffs that actually sound like B.A.D. riffs. Next up I'm listening to The Clash live in San Fran 1982 "Armagideon Time" featuring Ranking Roger!
