I grew up watching them in the NL and had to adjust to the AL style. I'm just happy that the new ownership has done a tremendous job with building this team to sustain a level of success for years to come.I LOVE MUSIC.

So "Harper geeting booed" is a national phenomenon already. But even I have to take up for Philly here because the video I've seen, it seemed to be just one fan being extremely loud. Not a great debut nonetheless, but those cleats were sick!
Nice big day for my Cubbies! Baez yard twice, Bryant yard, Contreras punching out a potential base stealer, top 4 hitters with RBI, every starter scored a run, Rizzo draws 3 BB, great stuff from the bullpen, new guy Mark Zagunis - making the start over Schwarber - with the GWRBI. Good to see the kid producing in his first Opening Day start!Star Lake 00 / Pittsburgh 03 / State College 03 / Bristow 03 / Cleveland 06 / Camden II 06 / DC 08 / Pittsburgh 13 / Baltimore 13 / Charlottesville 13 / Cincinnati 14 / St. Paul 14 / Hampton 16 / Wrigley I 16 / Wrigley II 16 / Baltimore 20 / Camden 22 / Baltimore 24 / Raleigh I 25 / Raleigh II 25 / Pittsburgh I 250 -

Major League Baseball is handing out an award that might not sit well with its players or their union.
In a statement obtained by Marc Carig of The Athletic, MLB acknowledged it gives a plastic replica championship belt to the team that does the best at keeping salaries down in arbitration.
The object, known as "The Belt," is given to a club's salary arbitration department as a morale booster for handling the tedious process.
Finalists for The Belt this offseason included the Houston Astros, Atlanta Braves, Chicago Cubs, Cleveland Indians, Tampa Bay Rays, and Minnesota Twins.
The salary arbitration process is an avenue for players to earn as close to their value as possible. Players are granted the freedom to negotiate with their respective clubs. If an agreement can't be reached, the two sides exchange figures and a panel of arbitrators eventually selects one of the salaries.
When a player reaches the major leagues, a team controls their salary for three seasons, and they usually earn close to the league minimum before entering arbitration. After six seasons, players can become free agents.
Recently, however, several top players, including Mike Trout, Nolan Arenado, and Jacob deGrom, have opted to sign contract extensions with their current teams rather than test a free-agent market that hasn't been generous.
Executive director of the MLB Players Association Tony Clark issued a statement Friday in response to The Athletic's story about the championship belt.
"That clubs make sport of trying to suppress salaries in a process designed to produce fair settlements shows a blatant lack of respect for our players, the game, and the arbitration process itself," he said.
In addition to the union, Kansas City Royals reliever Jake Diekman also chimed in via Twitter See Jake Diekman's other Tweets

Smart move on their part, but I think teams need to be trending towards paying the silly huge deals early instead of when players are in their downward slope.0 -
