New Zealand has less than 5 million people... makes it just a tad easier to get consensus and make large sweeping changes

Try it with 350 million, the 3rd largest country on the planet...

Not sure why people just gloss over this, shit isnt gonna be easy

And you have that whole constitution thing.  Plus I am not for group punishment just because one person screws up.

In the US, it doesn't seem to be close to "one person".

no one is glossing over it. I just don't think it makes a difference. there's a reason that research and surveys are known to be accurate for millions even when you've only sampled a much smaller size than that: consensus in one size group is generally going to be the same percentage, give or take a minute amount, as that of a much larger group.

With that thinking Hillary should be president right now.

There are exceptions and some studies can be swayed in a direction if wanted.

Somehow FOX keeps polling people that like the job President Trump is doing...

there is always a margin of error. as juggler has pointed out several times, most of the polling was correct. it was only off in a few cases that turned out to have huge implications.

Restricting and limiting access to certain types of guns = punishment? Here we go with the constitution again. We could argue all day, and have, but technically 2A doesn't give you the right to own a machine gun, Ar-15 or any other type of gun for pure recreational purposes. It's easy to keep fighting over words written 250 years ago when such technology didn't exist.

As for the population dispute, keep dismissing what they are doing because you (not you, but in a general sense those who are) think it's not comparable. Bullshit. Several times people have mentioned the gun violence in Chicago, a city of only 2.7 million, but it's easy with 5 million New Zealanders? Those that want change would look at what other countries have done and find a way to implement it on a larger scale. It never seems to be a problem to implement something large scale when it means increased profits, but in this case, it would mean decreased profits for a certain group who are funding many of our politicians campaigns. The truth is that no one cares enough because dead bodies are less important than bang-bang toys and money. We as a country have decided that the current casualty rate is ok, that's the truth. We make those decisions in lots of industries, but usually the tool or resource serves a benefit to society in some way to help offset the risks.
    It's a hopeless situation...

Does the constitution restrict the government from passing common-sense laws?

It seems the gun people use the constitution as a crutch to prevent gun law reform.

Yup, nobody talks about those not killed but survived a shooting and the resultant costs to society. Team Trump Treason is spouting off about how great his administration has been in addressing the fentanyl crisis. Deaths peaked at 18,000 and most of the victims continue to be white. Go figure.
