To the Person Who Just Dropped 3k on Ebay for Hartford '98 Poster

To be fair it's a collector's item. Collector's item's are generally out of wack with reality
There's only so many Yield tour posters that survived thumbtacks, horrible frames, and 20 years of moving around. Back then no one knew the would become collector's items. Take all the survivors and them subtract how many of them live in collections where they'll never be sold. Only leave so many. If you saw a tour in '98 and you really want the poster. You either live without or compete on price with a number of other people who want the same thing.0 -

Except we haven't seen one sell for that much yet. A couple have sold for a lot but not 3k. Just more exercises in artificial inflation.0

If someone is willing to pay for it, end of story. I have just five posters from shows that I just really liked the posters and shows, only 1 is really "valuable" - Ward S Randalls Island 1996. The others Jones Beach 2000, Albany 2003, MSG 2003 and Ottawa 2005 are ones I just really clicked with.
In 1998 when I toured I just did not want to be carrying around a poster every night, I liked Barrie ok, liked Pitt ok, loved the Cleveland, was meh on Camden and the NY/NJ poster. I thought I will see if someone has an extra sometime or pick up off tenclub newsletter when they used to sell APs that way. I got lazy. Then it got crazy, I was never going to spend more than 4x the show price for a poster.
But shit, if someone has the cash to burn on a collectible is what it is.
His eminence has yet to show.

True, it is crazy, but that's what you get when one pops up for sale after a few months to a year. Especially if someone has been searching for years.pjl44 said:Except we haven't seen one sell for that much yet. A couple have sold for a lot but not 3k. Not artificial when demand far exceeds supply.pjl44 said:Except we haven't seen one sell for that much yet. A couple have sold for a lot but not 3k. Artificial in the sense that people are reporting on or discussing sales that never occurred100 Pacer said:

This thread has produced:
- Discussion of a Hartford sale that no one has pointed to
- Links to 2 auctions from an account with 0 feedback
- Both were 98 posters listed well above their highest reported sale
- Both were ended in a couple days without a sale, one being relisted with a higher price
All fishy, zero data points0 -

Whoa!? I wasn't aware. Ultimately someone spent $3,000 (which I don't have) for an awesome poster (which I wish I had)! Personally I would find it very difficult to drop that kind of cash on anything without seeing/touching/inspecting it in person, just saying. Hopefully all works out!0 -
Nothing is amazing about a repro, sorry.tommy boy said:I actually purchased some Amazzzinnng Reproductions of said poster on heavy stock paper from "SCHMamazon" last year because I , like you, wanted one for my collection, then posted the others on SCHmebay but got shut down by the Gustapo... Ask Shumway, I believe I gave him a freebee in Good Diplomatic Ties to strengthen US/Canada relations a while back...LOL....Then there was the fake pitt that was allowed...0 -
Did someone ultimately spend $3K though? I think his point is that there is no evidence that this sale being discussed ever happened, in which case, we really should acknowledge that, or prove it to have happened, because right now it seems possible that the only thing artificially inflating the price for that poster is this thread.SweetDaddyLou said:pjl44 said:This thread has produced:

As an artist I scream DO NOT PURCHASE REPRODUCTIONS! Whether you realize it or not, you are screwing the original artist who crafted the piece. I know it doesn't seem like a big deal, but it is. Please do not do this.tommy boy said:I actually purchased some Amazzzinnng Reproductions of said poster on heavy stock paper from "SCHMamazon" last year because I , like you, wanted one for my collection, then posted the others on SCHmebay but got shut down by the Gustapo... As a person who collects I see copies as taking food or income to live on from someone. When it's your living or passions no one should be that disrespectful or uncaring. All I can do is pass it on. Not cool at all.
How come no one has said anything about the Dallas 98 that appears to have sold for 3k recently. I may be missing something, but I watched it sell. I think I did at least. I may have been tricked. Dammit! This is not a link that has anything to do with me. Please do not think that.
