You’re asking me if I want the next vault to be either in no control of mine or in some partial control of mine and likeminded fans.

As a human being with naturally selfish human nature, of course I agree.

It’d be a cool nod if they did it for Vault Ten. Give us a choice of 10 shows and let us vote.

Unless they are going to remove people who want an Altanta 1994, Berlin 1996 or Benaroya Hall as a Vault, I cannot submit to this.

I love the idea, but I fear the results unless the options are carefully curated.

its the Bugles that cement the tangible nature of this memory.

In all seriousness, I'd like to see them do a reissue of Benaroya Hall just to temper the insane resale value of this release.  Just do some kind of Black vinyl to keep the original separate or whatever.   But given how they auctioned off the remaining lot for big dollars I don't see it.

Better thing would be for some people sitting on unopened copies to just resell them at a less insane price, make a little coin and get into the hands of people willing to play the damn records, mine like the needle they tell me.

I want the band to pick the releases. But I would like some essay, or text from the band or someone about why it was picked and what makes that release special.

Rather see the crew and sound guys give the thoughts on the show and frankly make suggestions.  Air of objectivity is ultimately what helps.  The Grateful Dead could not get out of their own way until someone finally convinced them to let Dick Latvala decide what gets out and what doesn't.  The band is too close to the sun on this.

I'm personally hoping they'll fill in the blanks on some of the years that are still lacking a single official release.

Technically speaking, the only years in which they actually toured (not one off warm-ups) and do not have an official release are 1996 and 2004.  There won't be anything from 1990, 1991 because there were no multi-track recordings of those shows.

1992 - Vault 1, Unplugged and Drop in the Park
    1993 - Vault 5
    1994 - Orpheum
    1995 - Vault 7
    1996 - zip
    1998 - Lo2L, Vault 3, Vault 6
    2000 - a bazillion shows and Vault 4
    2003 - a bazillion shows and Benaroya
    2004 - zip
2005 - a lot of shows, Easy EP and Vault 8
    2006 - a lot of shows
    2007 - Vault 2
    2008 - more boots
    2009 - more boots
    2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018 - even more boots

So my vote goes to 1996 or 2004, lol.  I'm quite content with the audience boot of the 1991 show I was at, lol.

No.  Let the band do it.  I've seen too many "pick out setlist" things for bands and it is usually a greatest hits, so I feel like the show choice might be that way.  These vaults have been nice surprises.  :-)
