Kluber is going to go to the NL.  Syndegaard is not going to get traded, especially to the Yanks.  The Yanks are going to end up with a dog crap rotation.

People are probably getting annoyed with me but this report the Yankees have been in touch with Galvis are just glorious.

If this offseason ends with Paxton, Happ, two bullpen pieces and some short term crap replacement for Didi....good god.

2 years with an option based on performance is significantly more acceptable but they need a Fucking ace.

Him and Morton got pretty reasonable deals.

I don’t hate either. I’d much prefer 6 years of Corbin to 3 guaranteed of happ, but not sure how I feel about two of happ compared to 6 of Corbin. Leaves them a lot more flexibility.

    the lance Lynn contract though...

I think you are going to be better off with 2-3 of Happ vs/. locked in with 6 years of DudeWhoIsGonnaGetLitUp Corbin.
Career ERA nearing 4, 2 of the last 3 years were average (at best) and last year he massively outpaced any #s he had put up to date.
He chose wisely to avoid the AL, and the AL East specifically, and to go where he can be a #3 starter - so the NL East will be a bit more kind to him and he may get more Wins with the pitching matchups.
That said, I would be willing to bet a chunk of change with anyone that dude will not post 200Ks in more than 1 of those 6 years and that he is a +4 ERA guy over the contract.
Had he gone to the AL East and the Yankees I would have bet that he would near a 5point and would get Sonny Gray'd in his bungholio.

I said in the Phillies thread, but I like Corbin more than most and I think he's just hitting his stride.  One good year, NL West, injuries...I know.  But I think he has the stuff to sustain himself over a 6 year contract.  I like his age, that he has TJ behind him, that he has the wipe out pitch and is not a straight fastball pitcher where a dip in velocity shouldn't be a huge issue.  The concern is that the wipe out pitch seems to be fairly new and if people figure it out, he's screwed because he lives outside the zone too much.  That said, I do like Corbin more than most but could see it going your way.  My point was more that Corbin's contract will be up before Happ's even starts, and while Happ has a much longer track record including the AL Easy, is 36-38 of Happ better than 29-34 of Corbin?

We will never get to see a true comparison but if they both pitched in the Bronx for the next 2-3 years my bet is that their results would not be that far apart.  (I think the AL East and pressure of NY makes that much difference...and I do not think as highly of Corbin as you do.  Go and get you some Klubot if you want to overpay (with prospects) for a stud pitcher who can make it in the AL.)

So if the offseason ends with Happ, Paxton, an average replacement for Didi and 2 good bullpen pieces.  Are they as good as Boston?

    Hell no. Gotta do more.
  • Seems the IV has a penchant for Formula One. That shit costs, yo. That and new stadium financing with less asses in the seats (even though their attendance dominates, they may have been too optimistic as every empty seat is not only a missed ticket sale but spend on beers, dogs, merch, etc, and that shit adds up as missed revenue), one can begin to understand their reluctance to spend. And maybe the market just isn’t worth it this year?

The Yankees are one of the richest franchises in the world and a tiny fraction of their revenue comes from attendance.

The market is 2 top 10 players in the game who are 26. ‘Tis a good market

Then what’s holding them back? Has ad revenue dropped? Or was it buying the YES network back?
