So, looks like McGruff has gone with Three Fish.

1994. Rod Stewart holds what is estimated (in retrospect) to be the biggest concert ever held, a free, open-air New Year's Eve show on the beach in Rio to allow those who couldn't afford concerts to attend. Safe to say that almost any seat would objectively be bad.

Vs. ....... Kiss , who apparently toured in 1994. Stadium show I would say, best seat.
Oooh, was that the Pyscho Circus tour? Man, I hated Kiss and that song then...and still.
    It's a hopeless situation...

Okay, I'm going to check out CBGBs instead.

    1994. REM or Green Day.
You have to answer the previous question.

I answered. None of the above.

But at least I offered a new question.

While we wait for SC to answer to the previous and since you insist on being....stubborn -
    1983
CBGB's - really hard to have a best and worst seat since there were no seats and the place was packed and small BUT -

Worst placing for The Dead Kennedys and someone WILL vomit on you (nothing personal - it's CBGB's)

    or

At the stage for The Circle Jerks with a guaranteed steel toed boot to your head. (same disclaimer)

I knew this game would get a little whirly.

Just keep it simple ladies and gentlemen:  One band worst seat, another band best seat, year, type of venue.  Boom, boom, boom.  Oh, yeah, and boom.

    Definitely Van Halen.

1987. Worst seat in the house for Metallica wrapping up their Master of Puppets tour or best seat in the house for Guns N Roses kicking off the Appetite for Destruction tour. Midsize theater.
G&R.  Not the biggest fan but if Tommy Stinson happens to be on bass, I wanna be there!

One for the few oldies here:

1967, Monterrey Pop Festival (crowd estimated vary but probably about 50,000).   Jefferson Airplane with Grace Slick, best seats or Big Brother and the Holding Company with Janis Joplin, worst seat (probably standing)?
Sorry brian. We’ll just blame Wobbie
    Oh, poor Wobbie!

Don't know either Three Fish or Type O Negative.  Someone else gets to go!
Three fish was Jeff Ament’s side project in the mid 90’s. They were pretty good, definitely worth checking out.
    Will do, thanks!

    Keep going.  Good job, people!

I'll go with DK's and clean up the puke.  My head has taken enough hits!

1970, Berkeley Greek Theater.  Best seat to see the Duke Ellington's orchestra in his latter years or worst seat to see Miles Davis in his prime.

Ooooooh. I could not pass up the chance to see Miles Davis. I was just listening to him last night. That would be a dream.

1975. Worst seat in the house for Genesis, Lamb Lies Down on Broadway tour, or best seat in the house for Fleetwood Mac.

Tough choice but I would choose Fleetwood Mac

    Central Park, NYC

1980 - Elton John World Tour - up close (he wore the duck suit) and able to breathe

1981 - Simon & Garfunkel Farewell Concert - way in the back with no view of the stage and packed in like a sardine

I loved Madonna as a kid, so this one is easy. Gaga is good, but I want Madonna in her prime.

Ok, a PJ challenge. Front row to the famous '92 Pinkpop show and Ed jumps from the camera on to you or back of the house for the Vic show in '07.
    It's a hopeless situation...

Sorry. I threw us off for a second there!

    1968.

Front row for Led Zeppelin’s first visit to the U.S. or worst seat for The Doors. Mid-size venue.

GWAR.  I'm not a fan of being hit in the face with feces.

Someone take bbiggs offering to realign the thread:

    Sabbath!

1954.  A seedy little club in south-side Chicago.  Up front and close to see Elmore James or the back of the room to see Muddy Waters?

I hate Jethro Tull with a deep and abiding passion. Damn Scottish flautist.
Me too!!! Just awful music. Almost as bad as DMB.

OK, can we just do this and not hate music?

    Muddy Waters!

It's amazing how many times this thread has derailed in 2 short pages.

    Anyway....

    1991

Venue -  Outdoor Amphitheater - a third covered physical seats/ the rest are GA lawn (total capacity - @ 20,000)

Best Seats  (actual seats in first 10 rows covered)  Paul Simon

Worst Seats (lawn, bring a blanket) Elvis Costello

I think I’d go with Paul Simon. He’s a legend.
Not that I know offhand what he was doing in ‘91.

Bringing it back to the present, 2017.

Best seats for Ed Sheehan or worst seats for Adele. Both would be stadium venues.

    Buddy!

OK surf music fans:  1963, average sized theater, Beach Boys back row or Dick Dale front row.

I've already seen Rush 8 or 9 times and while it would be cool to see them in the early stages, I'll take Yes who I haven't seen.
2003 Tokyodome.  Best seats for A Perfect Circle or worst seats for Tool?

Tool  That's easy.  They are loud enough and visual that you want to be further back and enjoy the show.

I want to do something higher profile but I'll ask this instead...

Being in the room when Kris Kristopherson taught Bobbi McGee to Janis Joplin

    or

Being in the same room where Bruce Springsteen worked on Because The Night with Patti Smith

I have a little nugget of info to go along with this question after it is answered.
