He’s the lead singer of the Old 97’s. His solo stuff is great, and so is the 97’s stuff.LukinFan said:

They, or he, popped up while I was watching some videos - I guess my tastes indicated I might like him.May 30th said:this new john butler is amazing...
He was doing Oceans by himself and it was f##cking amazing. He can play, my god. And I love the sound. My first musical love was Eddie Van Halen - I loved to watch him play, he could have been amazing if he had not gone with a band and played solo.
Anyway, I know that is an older song, but I thought I'd seen someone mention the name here so I decided to give it a try. Glad I did!

Few others I really like are Ghost, Alice in Chains, Gorillaz, Good, Bad & The Queen, Django Django, BRMC, The Prodigy, The Decemberists and a couple others.

I’m thinking the Jeff Tweedy album needs to be considered. I’m thinking it’s the best thing he’s released since maybe Sky Blue Sky and I really like the albums after that!0

Rainier Fog is a fantastic record. Cantrell is an underappreciated genius in my view.Gern Blansten said:Alice in Chains - Rainier Fog
Great album
I'm still blown away by the work put out by RHCP, Radiohead, AIC in the last few years

Fucked Up - Dose your Dreams.
I keep going back to this album - it's so damn good. Not what you'd expect from a 'hardcore' band, even features an appearance by J Mascis and strings arranged by Owen Pallett. It's eclectic, danceable and sounds fantastic loud.

I'm going to say Egypt Station by Sir Paul McCartney. I think it's a fantastic album that just made me feel better than any other album from this year.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata0 -
+1. Fine album by Mr. Tweedy. Looking forward to reading his book. Check out his recent interview w/ Marc Maron on Marc's WTF podcast if you haven't already done so....two thoughtful and introspective people who really don't know each other yet digging into a wide ranging conversation that sounds as if they've been friends for years.lolobugg said:ledvedderman said:I’m thinking the Jeff Tweedy album needs to be considered. I’m hoping to hit up the podcast tonight! I really loved the book. Jeff writes just as he banters in between songs. It’s finny, deep, and just an easy read. Well, I imagine it’s an easy read. I have to listen to audiobooks now because of my brain shit, but it was so enjoyable. It felt like a private conversation with Jeff at my table. I’m sure the book is easy too, but check out the audiobook.jjflash said:
