High Magick. Isn't that a term from C.S. Lewis's Narnia series?

It is the Deep Magic in Narnia.
His eminence has yet to show.

I was thinking of driving down from Vancouver, as it would be incredible. The bold writing that states “This is a conversation only. There will be no live music played at this event” is the likely reason why tickets are still available.

Weird paying for a conversation selling a book...

Perhaps, but the book is included in your ticket price, so for $30, it’s quite a deal. I’m sure that the conversation will be fascinating, and will make reading the book all the more insightful.

It's pretty common actually. Here's another example. Speaking tour, book promotion.

I think it is great that Echols is out there doing his thing and living his life as a free person. What an amazing journey he has endured.
Unfortunately, this book and discussion holds nearly no interest for me, so Ed's presence notwithstanding, this is a big pass for me. I'd have to smoke more weed than usual to embrace his Magick.
"Damien teaches classes on magick around the country and works as a visual artist. His artwork entails glyphs, sigils, and symbols designed to bypass the conscious mind and speak directly to the subconscious, combining magick techniques with his own alphabet and writing system to break down concepts and scenarios into abstract designs."
I'm likely too simple and literal for this. I hope he finds success and happiness, though. He deserves it.

So, my guess is he'll design the next Pearl Jam album cover?

That could be good! He might have to arm wrestle Jeff for the cover, but would probably come up with some interesting concepts.

High Magick's artwork instantly reminded of Vs' booklet:

Sounds like an interesting night. Would be in to it if i were still in Seattle. Seen Eddie with Author and Phil Donahue here in NYC a few years ago discussing the Tomas Young's War book. Admission was purchase of the book which was signed by all 3 afterwards.

There was no live music played at this event.*

*Except Eddie singing a verse from a White Lion** song.

**I didn't know what that was until I googled it on my way back.

We attended the event last night. Both my wife and I had reservations about driving 2+ hours for a conversation (that’s a new one for us, and difficult to explain to the border guards), but it was well worth it. Such a powerful, loving, and humorous chat. The only criticism I have is that Eddie needs to get a new briefcase/backpack (he used a hard uke case)! While we knew that no music would be played, it was still such a tease when he walked out with that case :) !!!

Damien Echols, High Magick - In Conversation with Eddie Vedder

Damien Echols and Eddie Vedder in Conversation about HIGH MAGICK, a guide to the Spiritual Practices That Saved My Life on Death Row (released by Sounds True) at The Neptune Theatre, Seattle on Nov. 19, 2018. Introduction by Lorri Davis. At age 18, Damien Echols was sentenced to death for a crime he didn't commit. "I spent my years in prison training to be a true magician," he writes. "I used magick - the practice of reshaping reality through our intention and will - to stave off incredible pain, despair, and isolation but the most amazing feat of all that practice and study was to manifest my freedom." With HIGH MAGICK, this bestselling author shares his first teaching book on the powerful spiritual techniques that helped him survive and transcend his ordeal on death row. What is High Magick? Most people either think of magic as stage illusions or an occult practice involving dark rituals. "Magick is an incredible deep, meaningful, spiritual tradition that equals the Eastern practices of Buddhism and Taoism in beauty," says Echols. "It's an ancient discipline that lets you literally change reality by working with the divine energies of creation." Visit Damien's website - https://damienechols.com
